The time to act is NOW. Independent venues across the nation need your help more than ever today. Our congress men and women are meeting this week to discuss legislation, which includes the Save Our Stages Act before they leave for break this Friday. Here is how the Save Our Stages Act will help: Establishes a $10 billion grant program for live venue operators, promoters, producers and talent representatives ... Directs the Small Business Administrator to make grants to eligible recipients equal to the lesser of either 45% of gross revenue from 2019 or $12 million Allows the Small Business Administrator to issue supplemental grants in the future if funding remains available and applicants can demonstrate continued need Permits recipients to use grants for costs incurred during the COVID pandemic Permits recipients to use grants for rent, utilities, mortgage obligations, PPE procurement, payments to contractors, regular maintenance, administrative costs, taxes, operating leases, and capital expenditures related to meeting state, local, or federal social distancing guidelines The Save Our Stages Act is endorsed by (NIVA) and the National Independent Talent Organization (NITO) HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP: -Go to www.SaveOurStages.com and write a letter to local representatives. The letter online is pre-written; however, there is room to include personal stories for why independent venues and live music are so important - this is strongly encouraged. -Tag your representatives in social media posts that are bringing awareness to this act. -Call and email our representatives directly. Here are the representatives we are focusing on for Town Ballroom and other local venues: U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrandand: 202-224-4451 Twitter @SenGillibrand Facebook @SenKirstenGillibrand Email: [email protected] and [email protected] and [email protected] Senator Chuck Schumer : 202-224-6542 Twitter + Facebook: @SenSchumer Email: [email protected] and [email protected] and [email protected] Rep. Brian Higgins: 202-225-3306 Twitter + Facebook: @RepBrianHiggins Email: [email protected] and [email protected] Rep. Nydia Velazquez: 202-225-2361 Twitter: NydiaVelazquez Facebook: RepNydiaVelazquez Email: [email protected] and [email protected] We also urge Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Senator Ben Cardin to make the right decision and support these small businesses. Please help us to #saveourstages and to #saveNewYorkstages

We'd like to take a moment of your time to address an extremely pressing matter in the music industry: First and foremost, your support for the Town Ballroom means the world to us. Due to COVID-19 90% of independent venues around the country are currently at risk of shutting down. As a result, we have have teamed up with the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), to try and save independent venues and promoters across the country. Independent venues were the first to... close and will be the last to re-open. Congress will be voting THIS MONTH to enact a stimulus bill which will hopefully include relief for independent venues that might be the last hope to keep many of your favorite venues, festivals and promoters in business... but we need your help. Please go to www.saveourstages.com to send a letter to Congress. The form is already filled in and all we ask is for you to fill in your name, taking less than 30 seconds of your day. Even if you’ve written once, please make your voices heard now, it’s quick, easy and free. Ask your legislators to support and cosponsor S. 3814/H.R. 7481, the RESTART Act, introduced by Senators Young and Bennet in the Senate and Representatives Golden and Kelly in the House, which would ensure the survival of independent venues, festivals and promoters across the nation. Thank you so much for your support all these years and we hope to see you all soon. -Town Ballroom
