FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 21, 2021 AmeriCorps Is Recruiting to Fill Several Positions this Summer in Oswego County OSWEGO COUNTY - Oswego AmeriCorps is recruiting to fill several positions across Oswego County this summer to help children and youth have healthier futures by providing fitness activities and nutrition education. ... Applications are currently being accepted for 300-hour summer positions to work with youth and/or adult volunteers. The Oswego AmeriCorps program is a county-wide program administered by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. Members spend the summer helping their community while earning a paycheck and an education award, said AmeriCorps Program Coordinator Christopher Metz. For the 300-hour summer positions, members receive a total of $2,366 in living allowance paid through bi-weekly pay checks. When the term of service is completed, the member receives an education award of $1,311 that can be used for tuition or student loans at qualified institutions. AmeriCorps applicants must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, or be working to achieve one of those. Each site can have additional work experience and education requirements for applicants. Some AmeriCorps members will manage youth or adult volunteers. Positions are available at these locations: Camp Foundations (Oswego); Camp Hollis Day Camp (Oswego); Constantia Recreation (Taft Bay Park); Fulton CYO; OCO Nutrition Services (Hamilton Homes in Oswego); Oswego Bookmobile; Oswego City Parks; Town/Village of Hannibal; and the Traveling Parks and Recreation Program. The Town of Richland regrets to inform residents that due to strict COVID-19 guidelines, that we were recently sent, there will be no 2021 summer recreation.

Everyone who lives in the Town of Richland should have received one of these blue cards in the mail. When returning, please be sure to put your name and address on the card, even if you are letting us know you dont have a dog. This will avoid a visit to your home and possible fines for non-response to the enumeration. It is NYS law to license your dogs. To license your dog we need a copy of the rabies and spay/neuter certificate, if applicable. Oswego County residents may safely dispose of household hazardous waste products starting Saturday, May 1, at the Bristol Hill Solid Waste Facility at 3125 State Route 3, Volney, NY. The household hazardous waste collection facility will be open Saturdays from 8 to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p,m, May 1st through September 29th.

Due to a possible COVID exposure, the Town of Richland Offices will be closed this week. We will be working remotely and will be checking messages regularly. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding and be safe.

The Town of Richland Offices will remain closed to the public. We are in the offices working, but due to increasing COVID numbers, would like to limit the number of people coming into the building. All dog licenses can be paid via mail, online on the Town website, or through utilizing our drop box located outside the DMV entrance. Water Bills can be paid via mail or through the drop box. Marriage licenses, assessor questions, building and zoning permits, or any other business, we can schedule an appointment to come in if service can't be completed by phone.

HELP WANTED Town of Richland Highway Department is looking for a Seasonal Highway Laborer position. Class B CDL is preferred and able to pass a drug test. The Town of Richland Water Dept will be sending out Water Bills today. We ask that you use the Drop Box outside the DMV office at the end of the building, or use the US Postal Service. You will need an envelope to leave it in the drop box. We are still limiting the number of people in our office until further notice. Please note that Tuesdays and Fridays are very busy around the Courthouse due to County Court being held in the building. Parking is very limited at this time. Thank you for your patience.
