Spending time today working on a design plan for our upcoming @parrishart wedding, and of course ended up reminiscing upon one of our favorite weddings there. So excited to be back there again this fall!!!

Happy 10th Anniversary to TTWD! Today marks ten years since Matt and I received our first official contract as business owners. Prior to launching TTWD I had worked as an interior designer for eight years, and Matt had worked as a graphic designer/illustrator, so design was not new to us, but the world of weddings and events most certainly was! It’s amazing to think how far we have come in that time: working with hundreds of clients, bringing on interns and then freelancers a...nd then employees! We feel incredibly fortunate that ten years later we still love what we do (not withstanding the current climate) and feel extremely grateful that we wake up every day and get to work together as a team- as best friends, partners and as a family. These last few months have certainly been trying, but the love and respect we have for each other and for our work has really carried us through- and even made way for new TTWD endeavors to come about, surprisingly organically. With more time to spare, and more people spending time in their homes (and therefore wanting their environments to be chic, elegant and relaxing) I have been able, once again, to say yes to interior design projects! Additionally, some fellow event professionals have asked us to help them develop stronger business practices, allowing us to help them better prepare their businesses for the future. Much like how we formed TTWD on 10.10.10, we have always been open to exploring new ventures and to listening to what is needed. This was meant to be our April flower of the month photo, but the timing felt off and inauthentic to share it at the time. However, in the last 24 hours it feels like something has really shifted for the good. Maybe it's because late last night it was announced that it is now officially legal to host small gatherings of up to 10 people (while practicing proper social distancing, of course) which means that our new Micromony package (more on that soon!) can finally launch. O...r that we are lucky enough to still have exciting inquiries and new bookings coming in for Summer and Fall 2021. And it definitely is wonderful to see our postponed 2020 clients finally feeling more optimistic as they take the reins on their revised plans and allow themselves to actually enjoy the process again. So today feels like a new beginning. This beautiful photo really captures how all of us feel right now, standing on the inside looking out at a future that is unknown, but yet we are steadfast in that we remain hopeful. Hopeful because every day we get a little bit closer to understanding what comes next. Hopeful because we can and will rise above our fears and get comfortable with a new normal, and above all else, hopeful because #loveisnotcancelled and we undoubtedly will #celebratesoon @laurenlarsen @theday.collective

The simplicity of this photo really spoke to me tonight. The stillness. How understated it is. The soft petals. It felt like a meditation and just what I needed after another long day without fresh air, while balancing work with motherhood and trying to find a new normal. My favorite part of every day is the 7pm cheering and applause heard from all of the apartments and townhouses surrounding our own. It is incredibly moving. And Chloe’s little voice, yelling Go Doctors, you... can fix everyone! (fortunately or unfortunately, at three, she really seems to understand the magnitude of what is happening). I considered posting our April 1st flower photo today, but it just didn’t feel right. Maybe in a few more days it will, but for tonight I will leave you with this. Today was a good day; the sun was bright, there were no meltdowns or interruptions during conference calls, Matt cooked us an incredible Indian dinner (my fave), and now I will surf Netflix endlessly for a great movie before bed.
