Support the Trumansburg Fire Company's Letters to Santa program! Bring your bottles and cans to the Trumansburg Redemption Center this Saturday, December 12, from 10am to 2pm, and tell them you would like to donate the the funds to the Letters to Santa program. For every bottle and can received $0.06 will be donated to the Letters to Santa program, and Elmore Enterprises will match the donation! This is a great way to give back to your community this holiday season, and support a great program that brings toys and holiday cheer to children throughout Trumansburg. It's time for Trumansburg Fire Department's annual Letters to Santa program! Although things will look a bit different this year, we look forward to this event every year, and it is entirely funded by donations. Have a happy and safe holiday season from TFD!

TFD was called out early this morning for a residential fire in the village. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames showing from the roof of the residence, after a chimney fire had extended into the attic. An interior attack was launched, and the fire was out in about thirty minutes. Fortunately, everyone was out of the house by the time firefighters arrived, and firefighters were able to concentrate on extinguishing the fire. Thank you to Enfield and Mecklenburg Fire Departments and Trumansburg Ambulance for their assistance on scene. As temperatures continue to drop please remember to have your chimneys inspected and cleaned, and check your smoke and CO detectors to ensure their proper function.

TFD made a quick knock on an early-stage fire Monday morning on Falls Rd. When crews arrived they found fire in a second story room, and were able to knock it down with a water can extinguisher. Fortunately, everyone was safely out of the house at the time of fire arrival, and no one was hurt in the incident. Damage was also greatly limited because the door to the fire room was kept closed, limiting the fire's growth. The resident was alerted to the fire when the smoke detector sounded, giving him enough time to escape before the fire grew too large. The importance of fire detection systems cannot be overstated. Don't forget to check your detectors regularly, and change your batteries when you change your clocks. Smoke detectors save lives!
