The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for First Responders. Not every patient was a covid risk to but the stress of that possibility was real. Many first responders contracted covid-19 from serving the public. Many missed days of work due to symptoms. But do you know what happened? ...... they ALWAYS came back to serve the community. No threat is bigger than the pride, all of these individuals have in caring for others. We are so VERY PROUD of our team and our partners in the fire service, police service and hospitals, for navigating the trying times of a global pandemic. Per CDC: EMS play a vital role in responding to requests for assistance...unlike patient care in the controlled environment of a healthcare facility, care and transports by EMS present unique challenges because of the nature of the setting, enclosed space during transport, frequent need for rapid medical decision-making, interventions with limited information, and a varying range of patient acuity and jurisdictional healthcare resources. We invite you Commissioner Zucker and Governor Cuomo to sit in the back of an ambulance with a COVID + patient for 30 minutes or so, multiple times during a 12 hour shift. @wgrztv @wkbw @news4buffalo @spectrumnewsbuffalo @nysdoh @nygovcuomo
