No better spot to be tonight than sitting in the low brass section playing some Tuba in mom’s final school band concert in a career that has spanned over forty ...years dedicated to teaching and inspiring young student musicians. In life, the one constant is change, however one thing that has stayed unfailingly consistent is mom’s energy and excitement everyday to push and inspire her students to be their very best in every way (most especially with their ability to tongue/articulate notes correctly because everyone knows she’s a stickler on that ). I mean talk about dedicated, one time she even reminded a student of their lesson time for after break when we ran into their family at DISNEY WORLD! From the Batavia elementary schools, to teaching, training and supervising future music educators at the University of Buffalo, to the AMAZING community she has fallen in love with at Iroquois these past two decades, Mom has shown us all what it means to dedicate your life and passion to the students through the experience of learning and performing music. As Molly Williams said so beautifully tonight, Her passion for music can only be rivaled by her passion for her students. This may be the end of her full-time teaching, but jokes on her because she’s going to be master-classing my own low woodwind and double reed students for years to come, so she’s not getting away that easily. Mom, we are so proud of you and so happy for the career you have had with so many great students, families and colleagues. You deserve it all and we love you so much!
