Good afternoon! We would like to give thanks to Amy Deforest and her team from New York Central Mutual for providing our employees and tenants with sixty meals from the Dough Boys BBQ food truck last Friday! We would also like to give thanks to Gilligan’s Ice Cream for donating ice cream sandwiches as well! Good morning! We are excited to announce a new program that the Utica Center for Development and Maryellen Wiley from Cornell Cooperative Extension have established. Utica Coffee will also be partnering with this program by donating their coffee grounds for the program to use as fertilizer. This program is the Oneida County Urban Learning Lab. The Urban Farming Lab is being held at Union Station (321 Main St.) and will be running for six weeks. These Growing Sessions run f...rom 9:30am to 12:30pm on June 12th and 19th, July 10th and 24th, and August 7th and 21st. These sessions are free to the public and will be held in person at the Learning Lab in the REA Wing. This is a great resource for aspiring urban farmers and growers who face business startup barriers and limited resources. We hope to see you there! UCD Staff

Good afternoon! We would like to show our appreciation to Chobani for the donation they made to our agency! Chobani donated fifty cases of yogurt for us to distribute at our BBQ that we will be having for our tenants. We are always happy to be noticed by larger corporations for the work that our agency provides. We appreciate all the support that is given to the CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center! We made it to the weekend UCD family! (A three day weekend, might we add ) Staff member Christina did a great job interviewing with News Channel 2, explaining a little bit about our campaign. On Sunday, staff members from the Outreach Center will be delivering valentines to some our veterans residents and veterans in adult care facilities in the Utica area. ... UCD Fam! We're so excited to share with you that the games and fun have continued, despite the year we all have had! The Police and Community Athletic League hosted a video game competition, COVID friendly style! When Pathways to Justice Careers reached out to our facility as a possible venue for their competition, there were a few obstacles that initially stood in the way. Pathways Project Director Stephanie and her colleagues worked in conjunction with Program Manager K...e'Airah to ensure that all logistical needs were met and that the safety and health of all would be a top priority. Thankfully we accomplished overcoming those obstacles, as we try to do as an agency on a daily basis for our veterans and community. The results speak for themselves! Everyone had a safe and fun time, enjoying a friendly gaming competition A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, from the gaming participants, to the agencies who organized the event, those who donated food and refreshments, and to the City of Utica, NY Police Department for their outstanding partnership. This time her and her husband are sharing the joy by donating Christmas trees for this upcoming holiday season from their Buttenschon Christmas Tree Farm! Assemblywoman Buttenschon is no stranger to our organization. She has been a huge ongoing supporter for not only the veterans but also the community we serve.
