At approximately 2032 hours Monday night, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a reported stove fire at the Sunset Garden Apartments. 911 updated incoming units of an open line 911 call with smoke alarms in the background and residents evacuating. Car 1 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the front and rear of the building on the 2nd floor and auto exposed to the 3 rd floor and cockloft. Engine 4 arrived shortly after with reports of people possibly trapped above the fire floor.... Engine 4 stretched a line to the fire apartment, splitting its crew to preform a search in the apartment above also. The crews were met with heavy fire on the second and third floors. Truck 1 arrived and searched the remainder of the apartments and opened up the roof. All searches were found to be negative and all occupants were accounted for. A total of five hand lines were stretched and the fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control. A second and third alarm were transmitted, bringing Glasco, Centerville, Spring Lake, Port Ewen, and the Kingston Fire Fast Team to the scene. Standby coverage was provided by Ruby, Hurley, and Rhinebeck. Also assisting at the scene was Ulster PD,State police the Town of Ulster Building Dept., the Ulster County Fire Investigation Team, and Mobile Life Support. See more

Due to the growing concerns of Covid-19, Ulster Hose has made the difficult decision to cancel Christmas Cheer this year. We apologize for any inconvenience, as we were looking forward to it as well. Please stay safe. We are still planning to do a parade of lights with the trucks in the next few weeks. We are mapping out a route to cover the town. Right now, our main concern is the safety and well being of our members and the department to ensure that we can still respond to emergencies. Thank you.

This past weekend, the Ulster Hose Dive Team, along with the Ulster County Sheriffs Dive Team, put multiple divers and tenders through a rigorous and difficult rapid deployment dive class taught by Butch Hendricks of Lifeguard Systems. These members were put through many difficult situations and searches in black water and current that make the job difficult. These members also practiced many different techniques and emergency situations that can exist when operating in very dangerous conditions trying to save a life in a water emergency. The members from Ulster Hose that completed this training were Diver Lieutenant Joe Killian, Firefighter Brad Hill ,Firefighter Hunter Heppner and Tender Firefighter Dustin Bennet. These members will be a great asset to our team and we would like to congratulate them on a great accomplishment.
