Two and a half months ago, our academy was forced to close its doors. We supported the decision as this was deemed necessary to flatten the curve and not over... burden the hospitals. The curve has flattened. Last I checked, over 100,000 small businesses in New York State alone have been permanently closed. I have witnessed close, personal friends close their doors for good. I’m not going to let that happen. With the guidance and support of legal and health care professionals, we have devised a re-opening plan that promotes a high level of safety and is aligned with CDC guidelines for the safety of our school and every student that walks through our doors. We are in the process of designing a new, temporary schedule with shorter classes, increased cleaning protocols, and screenings upon entry. There will be no kid’s classes in the first phase of this plan. These guidelines will be on our website and posted here for download soon. If we are going to be successful with this, we have to adhere to the policies & guidelines set forth with the utmost care. We are taking a phased approach and will be reevaluating daily. There will be a limited amount of training spots open in each class, secured by reservation from our new MindBody app. Again, details will follow. We have created an incredibly fun and productive training plan for these classes. We will also have all of our classes streaming live on ZOOM for those who may not be comfortable to return or if classes that evening are full. Our Zoom classes for the kids will continue to follow the same schedule for now. I am not doing this to be adversarial or anti-government. I am doing this because our students want and need to get back, and we can do it in a way that is both extremely safe and closely monitored. The fact is that the survival of UMAC is being tested. It is becoming closer to an unrecoverable position. It doesn’t have to be this way and I will fight to save the incredible institution that you all are part of. Shocker! Apparently the data that needs to speak for itself needs to be analyzed by International experts. This is bordering on unbelievable and for many, unrecoverable. I’ve been relatively quiet and given a lot of grace to our state. No more.
