T’was a month before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun... Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Contagious and deadly, This virus spread fast, Like a wildfire that starts When fueled by gas. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s November And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. Frontline workers, Doctors and nurses, Try to save people, From riding in hearses. This virus is awful, This COVID-19. There isn’t a cure. There is no vaccine. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, When no one will see it, No-one but me. But outside my window The snow gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas ain’t cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope. Copied and Pasted. Too good not to share Saint Nick will soon be here!

I'm extremely grateful for the brief moment I got to catch up with my mentor, editor and friend yesterday, as I waited for our daughter to arrive home after mon...ths away at college. I met Katie Desarbo early 2001. We both owned failing franchises at the time. You could probably conclude that we were each other's competition. I've never been afraid of competition. As a rookie business owner, I actually leverage the opportunity. Around 2006, Katie and I friendship grew. We became really good friends. I valued her as a mentor too. No matter how busy Katie got, she always dropped whatever she was doing to support my "let's try it attitude." Katie was terrified when she learned of my near death experience with the novel Coronasvirus. Before Covid we'd chat nearly everyday on the phone sometimes minutes other days for hours. When I didn't call her for days, she got a gut feeling that something was terribly wrong. Katie holds several masters degrees, and is also a doctor. We've talked in details about my post Covid-19 recovery and long haulers symptoms. It's not easy living with Long Covid. The post effects are actually frightening. The hair loss, voice loss, brain fog, vibrations, tremors, burning toes, rashes, sleepless nights, fatigue, dizziness, tiredness, and endless pain. I'm now blindsided by and battling with Peripheral Neuropathy. It's common cause of diabetes. I tested negative for diabetes. My diagnosis is a result from injuries, infection and exposure to toxins. It's very common. More than 3 million cases in the U.S. per year. Treatment can help, but this chronic condition can't be cured. It's lifelong. Some of the Neurological sensation symptoms include, burning toes, itchy rash, numbness, weakness on one side of the body and pain from nerve damage, usually in hands and feet. These finding explains why my left side of my body and legs gives out frequently. Justifying why I fall. I've been stressed about this new self diagnoses. I have been struggling for months trying to find answers to live my best post Covid-19 life. It's simply to early for the data. Unfortunately, the science isn't there to support long haulers yet. I'm generously given of my time in hopes that my experience will save lives and heal Covid survivors and their families. Three big take a ways from my mentor Katie were: 1 Have boundaries. 2 Lucky for you, you weren't in a coma for 30 days and on a ventilator for 6 weeks. (Meet people where they're at, not where you want them to be.) Have compassion and empathy. 3 Be positive and resourceful. "Destiny is not created by the SHOES we wear, but by the STEPS we take." PS.
