Regan‘s Acts of Kindness donated hundreds of ornaments to inpatients at Golisano Children’s Hospital, pediatric patients at the Upstate Cancer Center, and patients at Joslin Diabetes Center. The 501(c)3 charity has been doing this for a few years, in memory of Regan Shetsky, who was hit by a car and killed in her nursery school parking lot when she was three years old. This week, Upstate officially opened its new ADOLESCENT INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM, designed to treat adolescents age 13 to 18 with psychiatric disorders and behavioral difficulties that interfere with their ability to function at home, school, or in their communities. The program will provide four to six weeks of intense services to adolescents whose symptoms are not responding to traditional outpatient services and who are at risk of needing inpatient services. Upstate Interim President Dewan said: "The goal is to keep children at home and in schooland this program is an important piece to the puzzle.

Important message from Dr Melanie Comito, the head of the Pediatric Oncology Program. She was a recent guest on Bridge Street on NewsChannel 9. She talks about new advances in treating childhood cancers, and the work is promising. Upstate cares for kids with cancer from 17 counties from Canada to Pennsylvania.

ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES: Upstate Pediatric and Adolescent Center, Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital together with the Syracuse City School District offered an immunization clinic for city school children to ensure they were vaccinated before school starts. Helping out were Upstate students, nurses, physicians and even our tech folks who got or EMR systems going. That’s Dr Blatt talking to the media.
