Top Tips/Ask Us Anything: Academic Honesty in AS&E Online Exams With many courses in AS&E taking place in partially or fully online formats this semester, students may experience additional stress when it comes to preparing for and completing exams according to the letter and the spirit of the College’s academic honesty policy. ... This Zoom session will share experienced students’ top tips for completing exams with honesty and integrity, and will include ample time for confidential Q-and-A with these students as well as with the College’s Academic Honesty Liaison, Greer Murphy. Panelists will represent undergraduate and graduate perspectives from various academic fields within AS&E. Attendees are encouraged but not required to register for the session by clicking this link: https://rochester.zoom.us//tJMvd-2spjwrGNzSeYIbr-4k-fIHn39 and are encouraged but not required to submit confidential questions ahead of time by emailing them to: [email protected].
There will be another e5 info session: Tuesday 10/13 from 3-4pm https://rochester.zoom.us/j/5853122024
Keep in mind that the principles, rules, and requirements for integrity outlined in the Academic Honesty Policy continue to apply to AS&E coursework. Have the courage to prioritize integrity! Rather than help your friends violate academic honesty policy, focus on using a ‘No, but ’ strategy to help them succeed (example). Instead of doing your own work in ways that violate the policy, remember you always have options: Asking for additional time ... Turning in partial assignments Not turning in assignments at all S/F, drop, withdraw (before doing something that violates AH policy) While these options may not seem pleasant, keep in mind: Academic dishonesty, not to mention the sanctions that come along with it, will always end up being your WORST option. Please read the guidelines for maintaining academic honesty in online learning posted on the Academic Honesty Website. And remember: We are all responsible for acting with integrity, and for upholding the culture of fair and honest work we want to see on campus. If you are ever in doubt about what that means, please ask: [email protected] or sign up for a confidential appointment using our secure online scheduling system.
