1943 was the last time the Army-Navy game was played at West Point. It was unusual because the Midshipmen were not allowed to travel with the team due to wartime restrictions. 1st Regiment had to make the ultimate sacrifice to cheer for the Navy team. Check out the Nimitz Library post to see some of the songs those poor cadets were forced to sing! As described in the 1944 Howitzer: "As usual, the outcome was unpredictable, but not the animosity, which even made itself felt i...n the empty bleachers. Everyone was out for blood and, I might add, very few were unsuccessful... It was a good game, though, ask any of the few who saw it."
