Our Halloween wish is for children to grow up without cavities... Once children are affected by dental caries the teeth are always at higher risk with this chronic lifelong disease. Did you know that your enamel can re-harden with remineralization of the natural fluorapatite in your teeth that creates a shield like structure, helping teeth be more resistant to damage from simple carbohydrates and sugars. The only thing that can harden soft enamel is fluoride, much l...ike our bones need calcium to stay more dense. Applying the appropriate topical fluoride in the right dosage and at the right time can combat the softening of enamel that causes dental disease from frequent snacking. It’s the every day choices that cause cavities so please be cautious with in between meal snacking and it’s better to have your treat right after a meal sometimes!!! If you haven’t been in lately for a fluoride treatment research shows that children under age seven are most at risk and we recommend reapplying topical fluoride varnish every three months as the safest and most effective way to lower your child’s cavity risk, short of the hardest task which is limiting sugar!! So if you feel like your kids are having a little too much sugar this weekend, don’t forget your toothpaste, floss, and fluoride rinse!! Family Update: Happy Halloween to our wonderful patients and their families! Our hearts go out to you parents and your children who have had to endure so much heartbreak and change this year. We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from you as we have all gone through such a difficult year. We know many of you who have suffered family illness, loss, career changes and many other hardships. We are so thankful for all of you who have shown appreciation and ackn...owledgement of how we are working to make every choice to improve the safety for our patient families as well as our team members and their loved ones at home. Just like you all, many of our team members have been affected by their children’s daycares and schools being closed, and we are doing everything we can to improve our access to you by bringing on more amazing and experienced team members. We cannot wait for you to meet our newest additions if you haven’t already been in to say hi! Also, two of our hygienists went on maternity leave over the summer and welcomed baby girls Scarlett and Josie! We are overjoyed and so thankful for these beautiful baby girls and their awesome mamas! This week, Trisha started her maternity leave and she is welcoming her baby girl in November. We will miss you Trisha!! We are so lucky to have the most amazing team that has been forged over forty years of commitment to pediatric patient care in our community. Very thankful for you and very thankful for the opportunity to be focused on prevention and all aspects of pediatric dental care. Stay tuned for more introductions coming soon.... Do you want to know the number one secret to not getting cavities???? Ill give you a hint...Brushing and flossing alone is NOT enough! If you want to prevent your children from suffering from cavities, the secret is mealtime! I know many of us don't think we have time to sit down for family meals, and many of us are always rushing off to work and school and eating on the go. Eating on the go can sometimes mean snacking or choosing heavily processed and low nutritional foods.... The secret to cavity prevention is the same as the secret to overall health: Fueling our bodies and minds with whole foods and planning mealtime around the food groups. I know I grew up on cereal for breakfast or a bagel on the run. But lunch and dinner was always sitting down for a meal with friends or family. Can we try to focus on at least two out of three meals based on healthy whole foods not out of a package or box? Your belly will thank you as well as your teeth!!! See more

Highly recommend Valley Dental Pediatrics - by Emma We drive over an hour to go to Valley Dental Pediatrics and it's definitely worth it. My 6 year old daughter had a few cavities that were overlooked by a dentist at a different office. As a result, she needed a few dental procedures, including a crown and a tooth pull. Dr. Campbell did such a great job. I'm shocked my daughter still likes going to the dentist after all of it.
