So... We all are trying to stay at home as much as possible. Now is the time to start planting seeds at home!! Plan your garden - make it as big as you can. Your fresh veggies will taste so good this summer!! Not a place for a big garden - use containers. I plant several of my veggies in containers - it makes it easier on my back. Right now I have several trays and pots planted at home under grow lights getting ready to grow strong to transplant outside when the weather is warmer. Please post pictures of your gardens! I would love to see them!

I saw a very sad and upsetting piece on the news last night. Farmers throwing away milk and letting veggies and fruit rot. Why you ask? Because schools are closed. Restaurants aren’t as busy. No casinos. So they don’t have as many customers. However what made me mad was why instead of throwing away all that food why don’t they donate it to their local food pantries. I saw one that was feeding 10,000 families yesterday. That milk and food could help so many families right now who are out of work and hungry. They could use that as a tax write off next year so it would be a win win for all. I just get so upset thinking about it. Please post your thoughts below. I would love to hear what you think. And if you have a solution to this growing problem.

Hello to all my fellow quarantined friends! Ones the time to get planting! Whether you have seeds started inside or you can plant outside. I have several trays started inside. One tray full of flowers like zinnias marigolds cosmos and snapdragons. Then I have all my tomatoes peppers eggplant cucumbers and squash started. By the time it’s warm outside they’ll be ready to go. I also have lettuce kale bunch onions started as well. Outside you can plant cold weather plants. I have carrots beets spinach radishes snap peas and regular peas planted. My rhubarb is growing nicely and the strawberry plants are poking their heads. My asparagus hasn’t started yet but when it does we will be eating tons of it until we turn green!! Please comment below on what your growing this year! Pictures are always welcomed’

Yesterday I spent the day cleaning up the pea and spinach bed. Today I’m replacing them with sunflowers that I started in the greenhouse. I’ll share pictures later. Remember now is the time to clean out your old beds and replace them with fall crops. You still can plant any root vegetables to be harvested in late fall. If your going to garden over winter start your seeds soon for cabbage kale broccoli and other brassicas. You’ll want them to have a head start while it’s warm to get a good root system. On another post I’ll share how to prepare your over winter beds. Happy Gardening!!
