I am anticipating another shut down. Every one stay well. I will continue to stay open as long as we can. We will continue the blood drives where others have stopped. We will continue to support or veterans. Next weeks meeting will be social distanced in the hall. Those who want to be part of the meeting but not comfortable attending the meeting we will work on an alternative. UTICA, N.Y. Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has released recommendations followin...g the recent surge in coronavirus cases across the region. Earlier Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned that if hospitalizations continue to rise, restrictions may be reinstated, including capacity caps on indoor dining. To curb the spread and avoid shutting down again, Picente recommends the following: Keep kids in kindergarten through 8th grade in hybrid learning models at all times. Schools should cancel all extracurricular activities, including sports, especially if the district or school has switched to fully remote learning. All in-person public meetings should stop and go completely virtual, including city councils, school boards, planning boards and town meetings. Oneida County will begin releasing the names of businesses, organizations and residents who violate health department guidelines. Employers are encouraged to let people work remotely when possible, and ensure work spaces allow for social distancing. Enforcing mask-wearing in the workplace is also advised. Picente said the county is also in the process of creating a vaccine work group, to focus on educating the public and developing a strategy for distribution throughout the community. Oneida County director of public health, Phyllis Ellis, also recommends employers encourage workers to get tested every two weeks, especially with free testing available at Griffiss Airport in Rome. This guidance applies to all employees, whether they are showing symptoms or not. Both Picente and Ellis also continue to encourage people to wear masks and social distance in public, and to stay home if experiencing any COVID symptoms. Popular in the Community

Benefit Rates Get a Boost Starting Dec. 1, all compensation benefit rates will increase by 1.3%. VA is required by law to match the percentage of cost-of-living adjustments made to Social Security benefits. These adjustments help to make sure that the purchasing power of your benefits keeps up with inflation. If you receive VA compensation benefits, learn your new rates today! https://www.va.gov/disabi/compensation-rates/veteran-rates/
