City of Dunkirk Government 15.07.2021

Mayor Rosas' response to Governor Cuomo's "2021 State of the State Address" After watching the State of the State Address, I am pleased to see Governor Cuomo is looking to insure all communities across the state have access to the COVID-19 vaccinations. This will include disadvantaged communities! I also appreciate the Governor mentioning funding for infrastructure improvements for communities across the state. The city of Dunkirk is planning to continue with some public... improvement projects and are thankful to the Governor for the support he has provided and continues to provide our community. Governor Cuomo also mentioned Police Reform and some of the municipalities across the state that have already successfully submitted their plan. The city of Dunkirk is planning to complete our plan and have it submitted before the end of March. I appreciate the Governor’s leadership in reaching all communities across the state with these improvements. See more

The program is set to take place at the private pavilion area at Point Gratiot Park (formerly known as the Firemen’s Grounds). We will be providing program space, recreational equipment and some staffing support in our collaborative effort to offer a safe and enjoyable experience for our community’s youth. We are also pleased to announce that the Summer Program will be offered free to City residents. I would like to thank E.J. There are no current confirmed cases of Corona Virus in Dunkirk that I am aware of at this time, but that doesn’t mean there are not individuals who are at risk. I am encouraging everyone to be vigilant, and to take precautions and follow the guidelines set out by Governor Cuomo and the Department of Health. Basic symptoms of this virus are shortness of breath, persistent cough, and fever. Unless your symptoms are severe, do not go to the ER or an Urgent Care Facility ca...ll your health care provider. SELF Quarantine! Stay Home! I urge everyone to be aware of the importance of prevention. Therefore, I have instructed my department heads to take pro-active action in City Hall, and I urge all residents of the city of Dunkirk to do so as well. The basic prevention guidelines are: *Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing, coughing with a tissue and throw the tissue away. *DO NOT SHAKE HANDS use the fist pump or elbow pump. *Wash hands often with soap and water lather and wash under running hot water to the tune of Happy Birthday generally 20-30 seconds *Wipe surfaces regularly with sanitized wipes alcohol or bleach based *Use hand sanitizers liberally especially when touching doorknobs, stair bannisters, etc. *Keep hands away from mouth, nose and eyes as much as possible *If you feel sick, feverish, coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath or have flu like symptoms STAY HOME! Call your health care provider! As more information becomes available I, or a member of my staff, will keep you informed. In the meantime, please stay tuned to your local radio station, television channel and Dunkirk Access 1301. Mayor Wilfred Rosas is pleased to announce that the City of Dunkirk’s Pickle Ball Court located next to the Wright Park splash pad is now open for ice skating. Thanks to our City Firefighters, the pickle ball court has now been filled with water and is ready for everyone, young and old, to lace up their skates and ‘go ice skating’ in what I hope to become a family tradition. Mayor Rosas said. The court will be open daily, weather permitting, and will be lighted in the eve...nings from 6:30 P.M. 9:30 P.M. Mayor Rosas said, When the pickle ball court was designed it was designed for year round enjoyment, and that included ice skating. To be able to have our children, young people and families utilize this facility in the winter as well as the summer is just one more reason to be proud of all that we have to offer here on the shores of Lake Erie. I would also like to give special recognition and thanks to Ryan Hall, Recreation Department Coordinator, for the added time and effort that he has put into helping to make ice skating on the pickle ball court possible. The Mayor stated, And I invite everyone to come out and skate!
