Each year the Voelker Orth Museum has a Honey Harvest Festival. Educators and volunteers facilitate bee-themed activities, and our beekeeper extracts honey on-site. Since this year is different, we are posting virtual activities for all to enjoy. Check back throughout the day for all the buzz!

Did you know the Voelker Orth Museum has a bee hive that produces delicious pure honey? Join us tomorrow, October 16, to learn about the bee ecosystem through various bee-related activities and pre-recorded videos. VOM Beekeeper Helen Colhoun will provide an introduction to beekeeping, tell the story of the museum’s hive this past summer and explain the honey extraction process in detail. An informal gathering to share memories and celebrate Gloria Lomuscio’s time at the Voelker Orth in such a peaceful September afternoon. The Museum will be dedicating one of the garden benches in Gloria’s memory.

Today's VOM@Home activity asks, "what's in the neighborhood?" Take a walk around your neighborhood and notice what has stayed the same and what has changed these past few months. Draw a picture of your neighborhood and include everything you saw on your walk! ... Share your pictures with us to be featured on our page. Don't forget to wear a mask, and enjoy your walk!

Introducing VOM@Home While in-person Family Programs are still on pause, the Voelker Orth Museum will be introducing new, weekly activities for kids and families to explore while staying close to home.
