As the father of four amazing daughters, a husband to an inspirational physician and mother, and the son of one of the most dedicated, hardest working and loving mothers out there - I consider myself so fortunate. I have been blessed with the firsthand experience of what can be done with ingenuity, strength, and grit against a system stacked against them.. and the hope for something better. To all of the women who came before.. who fought tirelessly.. thank you - I am awed b...y the heights our girls will reach because of your determination and sacrifice. To my daughters, I pledge to be the type of person that you look to as an example, for support when needed, and admiration for all you will achieve. Advocacy We all need stand up for something. Everyday as a physician, I stand up for my patients - against disease, against injustice, and sometimes against the system designed to protect them. ... Today, I stand up for physicians find ourselves under threat.. for our protection. We must advocate for ourselves because - despite the fact that we may have been celebrated as heroes during the pandemic - memory is often short and we are again facing forces from all around that prevent us from delivering quality care. It was my pleasure and honor to participate in MSSNY’s physician advocacy day to educate our lawmakers on policies beneficial and detrimental to the ability of physicians in NY to fulfill our Hippocratic oath. #health #advocacy #publicpolicy #healthcare #voice #voicedoctor #medicine #mssny @mssnygram @medicalnassau #entalife

Received my second vaccine against COVID-19 - now 48 hours post and feeling well. I am so grateful to all of those who have worked so very hard to get us to this point and allow us to continue to keep the rest of you healthy and safe. Looking forward to a time when each of you has the opportunity to step up and protect yourselves against this terrible pandemic. #thisisourshot #covid_19 #covid #covidvacccine #entalife #entandallergyassociates #voice #voicedoctor #health #corona #life #yolo

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to receive my first dose of the covid vaccine. Although I know the clock striking midnight and the year changing on the calendar won’t immediately resolve our problems, it gives me hope that with science and good sense on our side we will see life start to come back to normal in 2021. 2020 showed us that we are stronger than we realized. Let’s take that lesson with us in to 2021. Wishes for health and happiness for all.

I couldn’t even begin to mention all the amazing nurses that have not only touched my life as a person, but have shaped me into the physician I am today. I am forever indebted to those who have held my hand in good times and in bad, who care for patients day in and day out, and who bravely face the fury during our darkest hours. We honor all of our nurses.. this week and every week. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you. Thank you for all you do.

Turning helplessness into helpfulness! When I was sick with Covid-19 I felt absolutely helpless. I kept thinking to myself that as badly as I felt, so many had it so much worse. What helped me get through was the thought of getting back to being with my family and my patients .. and how I could help those who might be really sick with coronavirus. Today I gave blood for the first time in my life. More specifically, I donated plasma that contains possibly life-saving antibodi...es against coronavirus used to treat those most critically ill with this disease such as those fighting for their lives in the intensive care unit. I was inspired by the many other individuals there doing exactly the same. If you have tested positive for Covid-19, please consider donating blood. It’s painless and could save a life. If you haven’t had it, you can still help by reaching out someone who might be depressed or just lonely as a result of social distancing/quarantine. No matter how small the gesture, turning feelings of helplessness into helpfulness can make a huge impact.

Seek care if you need it!!! One real consequence to this pandemic is the delay in care for patients with non-coronavirus conditions. If I can say one thing at this point it’s - if you need care.. GET IT!! There are so many options for care that it doesn’t make sense to delay treatment for problems that shouldn’t wait. We are in the office working hard to keep those with urgent medical conditions that need prompt evaluation and care out of the ER - our goal is to get them ba...ck home in a safe, prompt and healthy way. For those who can’t come to the office, telemedicine can be helpful. Regardless of the approach, don’t delay if you need care! Unfortunately, here in NY so many elective procedures and surgeries have been postponed due to the pandemic. Today is the first day in 8 weeks that I’m back in the operating room for an urgent case. It’s a surreal feeling.. how much I miss this part of caring for patients and the camaraderie I feel with my operating room colleagues. It’s going to feel great when we are able to be able to treat those who need non urgent/elective surgeries - for now we wait until it’s safe.

Knocked down.. but not out. Now I’m back. .Today is my first day back at work since coming down with coronavirus 6 weeks ago. Feeling so privileged to be able to get back to seeing urgent / emergent patients and helping to keep patients away from the hospital if at all possible. .I am so grateful to everyone for their concerned calls and messages.. but especially to my amazing wife who nursed me back to health.. staying up with me at night to ensure my breathing improved and deftly managed a household and a business with grace and efficiency. You are my North Star and I couldn’t be here with you!! @ Nassau County, New York

No question that this quarantine has us all engaging in more indirect communication. Whether it is teleconferences, video chats, or traditional phone calls, this type of communication can put a real strain on your voice! . Check out my colleague Kristie Knickerbocker, an amazing SLP from a Tempo Voice Center @kristie_voice, and her post on 5 tips for keeping your voice healthy during these times! I was honored to put in my 2 cents!

Today is World Voice Day 2020. A day devoted to the healthy and beauty of the human voice. Voice is a vital tool for expression, communication, and identity. - Take a moment to think about how your life would be different if you didn’t have a voice. How about if your voice was changed permanently? How would that influence your life.. your identity. ... - As a laryngologist, a voice specialist, the main focus of my practice is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of voice disorders. Most people don’t realize that this is a branch of medicine, but for me it is the perfect blend of the beauty of music and the art of medicine. - We are all distracted and apprehensive about the future but it shouldn’t come at the expense of other aspects of our health. - Today I ask for you to please be mindful that your voice is your own, use it wisely, use it in a healthy way - but remember that if you find yourself having trouble with it.. I am here to help. #worldvoiceday #worldvoiceday2020 #worldvoiceday2020 #otolaryngology #voice #vocalhealth #vocal #vocals #singer #music #entalife #entandallergyassociates #Laryngology #voices #voicedoctor

To our patients, We are experiencing an unprecedented health crisis in #covid19 . None of us saw it coming but it is here and has affected everyone on the planet. From patients, healthcare workers, first responders and everyone in between we remain united in our common goal. While we experience the full range of emotions from fear, uncertainty, and desperation, to hope, determination, and resolve, we want to remind you that we will #persevere. Throughout this struggle, ENTs ...have played our role in fighting this #pandemic and will continue to do so but also want you to know that we are still here, ready and willing to care for you. We know that medical conditions still need to be treated, and for that we can help you triage what is appropriate for #telemedicine and what problems need an in-office evaluation (available for very limited urgent/emergent problems). We don’t know when it will be safe for us to begin performing procedures / surgeries - we will keep you informed as our understanding evolves and reschedule procedures as soon as it is safe to do so. But for now, know we stand willing to help you, whether it is with words of comfort or through thoughtful medical care. Remember we are here for you - now and always. #entsunited
