Today, we celebrate the 384th birthday of the National Guard. The National Guard was formed in 1636 as the militia of the colonists in North America. The Marquis de Lafayette, on a visit to the United State in 1824-1825, helped popularize the term "national guard" as a description for the various states' militias. The title was formalized by federal legislation in 1903. Thank you for defending our great nation!

Today, we honor the more than 3,500 Americans who lost their lives or were wounded on this solemn day at Pearl Harbor in 1941. The Japanese attack damaged several battleships, permanently sinking both the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma, and subsequently led to the United States' involvement in World War II. The attack on Pearl Harbor is a day President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared "a date which will live in infamy." Today - we remember.

The EquiCenter, Inc. was a beautiful backdrop for Warrior Salute Veteran Services and our first Veterans Fall Harvest Retreat. We're so happy to be able to provide these important services to area veterans in a unique setting and we thank everyone who made this event a success!

One last tip for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Report suspicious activities. If you find any suspicious activity/Email in your company's account, immediately report it. The faster you report it, the stronger the possibility of stopping a security incident. #BeCyberSmart

It is recommend that woman over the age of 40 receive annual breast exams to monitor for abnormalities. Do you fall in that 20%? Cybersecurity Tip: Be suspicious of emails containing spelling mistakes. Most companies now use spell-checking features. Emails purporting to come from a professional source that contain spelling mistakes or grammatical errors should be treated with suspicion. #BeCyberSmart

Warrior Salute Veteran Services is greatly honored to be selected as an L3Harris social impact grant recipient. L3Harris Technologies provided 39 non-profit organizations nationwide with $930,000 in social impact grants as part of the company's ongoing efforts to provide relief to communities adversely affected by COVID-19. The grants address a wide range of needs including help to individuals facing the digital divide, food insecurity, veteran aid, mentorship for STEM students, and economic opportunities.
