Just a friendly reminder that the NY water on the West of the Delaware is closed for the season. It will reopen on 4/1/2021. You can start fishing once you are on the PA/NY Boarder Water, which starts at Monument Pool and your first fishing access point is the Upper Gamelands. If you have any questions just let us know or check out the fishing regulations on the NYDEC website. #flyfishing #flyfishingthedelaware #givethefishabreak #catchandrelease

CANNONSVILLE RELEASE UPDATE... DEP began ramping up the release from Cannonsville Reservoir this morning at 8:45. It will be back to 150 cfs at 9:45 a.m. We ap...preciate everyone's patience while we completed this important work. We have included several step-by-step photos with this post to show the condition of the pipe, the repair, and the work that was done. You can learn more about it by reading the captions of each photo. Our DEP engineers, machinists, maintenance staff and police began working in the pre-dawn hours on Tuesday morning to repair a leaking pipe in the West Delaware Release Chamber. The 24-inch-diameter pipe releases water into the West Branch Delaware River to support its ecology, the coldwater fishery, and other recreation. The cracked pipe was being held together with lumber and straps. By the end of the day, our in-house machinists executed a specially designed welding repair that successfully fixed the pipe. DEP staff walked the West Branch to search for distressed fish while the work was ongoing. None was found. CANNONSVILLE RELEASE UPDATE... After consulting with several downstream stakeholders, DEP will make some changes to our reduced releases that were announced las...t night. To make up for reduced flows coming out of Cannonsville Reservoir, DEP will increase the release from Pepacton Reservoir to at least 400 cubic feet per second for the next several days. The increase at Pepacton is more than the reduction at Cannonsville, which will support overall flows on the main stem of the Delaware River. This is the updated schedule: MONDAY Cannonsville - 40 cfs in the morning; 150 cfs in the afternoon Pepacton - ramping up to at least 400 cfs TUESDAY Cannonsville - Zero flow from 5 a.m. - 5 p.m., then back to 40 cfs Pepacton - At least 400 cfs WEDNESDAY Cannonsville - 40 cfs until 9 a.m., then back up to at least 150 cfs Pepacton - At least 400 cfs until Cannonsville work is complete These flow changes are necessary for the U.S. Geological Survey to calibrate its gage in Stilesville, and for DEP to fix a leaking pipe in the release chamber at Cannonsville. Please share... Important news for folks along the West Branch Delaware River. DEP will temporarily reduce the downstream release from Cannonsville Reservoir for three days st...arting tomorrow. The reduction in flow will allow DEP to fix a leaking pipe in the release chamber, and it will let the U.S. Geological Survey calibrate its gage immediately downstream of the reservoir. The current downstream release from Cannonsville is set at 150 cubic feet per second (97 mgd). The following flow changes will happen starting tomorrow. Monday - DEP will reduce the flow to 40 cubic feet per second for several hours in the morning while USGS takes readings to calibrate the gage in Stilesville. The release will increase to 150 cfs by noontime. Tuesday - DEP will ramp down the release to zero flow by 5 a.m. The shutdown is necessary for DEP to safely repair a leaking pipe in release chamber. The shutdown is expected to last the majority of the day. DEP will also work with USGS to remove debris from around its gage. DEP will ramp back up to 150 cfs when the repair is complete. Wednesday - DEP will again reduce the downstream flow to 40 cfs in the morning while USGS takes additional readings to calibrate its gage in Stilesville. DEP will then ramp back up to 150 cfs. Please share this information with those who need it.
