SALRADIO talked Wednesday with Richard Ensor, Commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. W e discussed the Supreme Court 9-0 ruling against the NCAA that came out Monday and the state laws going into effect July 1st that support athletes right to earn income off #Name, Image, and, Likeness often referred to as #NIL. As coach Monken says, "Everything is different at an Academy" we don't yet see how Academy athletes will benefit, but we do see many of the freshman... announcing their college acceptance commitment on Twitter and Facebook pages. Major ruling by Supreme Court that will allow schools to offer more benefits to athletes, essentially treating athletes more like regular students. As Coach Monken says "Everything is different at an Academy" but for everyone else the large schools will be able to offer more, small schools will tend to offer what they can to marque team athletes. Another major sign that college sports will change once again favoring larger schools with more resources and teams that are reve...nue producing and generate visibility. What do you think? KGK

Share a family photo, two newly minted Army officers in October 1942, dress uniforms look familiar? Dad on left and his brother on right, my Uncle Warren. Two Bronx guys. Dad led soldiers into Northern Italy in 1944, and stayed in Army for a career serving in Germany in early 1950s and later South Korea. Warren was at Battle of Bulge where his unit received talk from Gen Patton memorable decades later, went on to a career in public television. Warren was at West Point for a... year in late 1930s, done in by a math exam, both were commissioned in 1942 at Fort Sill. Memorable day when we visited Fort Sill day before Army - OU game. Congratulations to Army Head Hockey coach Brian Riley, Sunday's 5-3 win at AIC in Springfield is the 1000th win for Army hockey since 1950 coached by his Dad, his brother Rob, and the 201st that he has coached the team since 2004. Goaltender Trevin Kozlowski had 37 saves in net for Army, three goal effort, a hat trick for junior Colin Bilek, who has six goals in last three games for Army. Black Knights scheduled to travel to Air Force for weekend series in Colorado Springs next weekend.
