Last week, cadets in SS476: Conflict and Settlement simulated United Nations Security Council negotiations. Roleplaying as UN officials and permanent and non-permanent UNSC members, the cadets attempted to coordinate a multilateral response to the ongoing civil war in South Sudan.

Retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, former commander of U.S. Army Europe, recently gave a virtual guest lecture to cadets enrolled in Dr. Rob Person’s course, SS375 - Politics of the Post-Soviet States. He spoke to cadets about Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and Moscow’s broader strategic objectives in the Black Sea region. He also discussed many of Russia’s recent advances in weaponry and warfighting capabilities and how those developments affect strategic stability on NATO’s eastern flank and beyond.
