58 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and some 250,000 people gathered in Washington in order to draw attention to continuing challenges and inequalities still faced by African Americans a full century after emancipation. This followed violent attacks on civil rights protests. In the past year we have seen several similar protests and demonstrations across our nation, all of which have highlighted that the work is not done, not just for people of color but for other folx a...s well. In commemoration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and in solidarity with the work yet ahead of us, the West Village Chorale would like to share Ysaye Barnwell’s Would You Harbor Me? In recent years, our Caroling Walk has seen a variety of weathersnow, rain, unseasonal warmth and polar chill, but regardless of what’s going on around us, the mood is always festive and the hot chocolate is always, well, hot! (Except possibly for that year we seemed to keep blowing the fuse in the Judson kitchen ) This year is unlike any year in the 46-year history of the event...but the caroling must go on!
