Today we took some time to support our fellow essential workers and healthcare staff who remain at work to keep our community safe, healthy, and clean. Donations of snacks were brought to us by members of the community, and the students at our local school; PS207 brought us hand made thank you cards which were distributed today! On behalf of ourselves and the workers who we were able to touch base with today, we’d like to say THANK YOU to the residents of Howard Beach for th...eir endless support! ATTENTION Community members. We have a small request for all our friends with children. We are asking if you can have them and their friends make thank you cards which will be distributing to the Medical professionals that are working tirelessly to combat the COVID 19 virus. (Hospital Personnel, EMS workers , Firefighters ,Police Officers) For any cards that are made we can schedule a pick up, or drop off time can be set up so we can get these cards out to these amazing people who are putting their lives on the line during this pandemic. Also, any small grab and go snacks will also be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions you can reach out to us in messenger or contact the Fire house @ 718 843 9863. Ask for Chief Nick Spinelli.

The West Hamilton Beach Fire Department would like to assure our friends and neighbors that we remain dedicated in our commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of the community and our membership, as always. The Chiefs of Department, EMS personnel, and members of the West Hamilton Beach Fire Department are closely following all details related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The decisions and actions of your fire department are being guided by information and updates receiv...ed from health officials on the local, state, and federal levels. We are prepared to deliver the professional fire and emergency medical services that the residents of the communities we serve have come to expect from our organization. In order to continue to provide the outstanding level of care we do, we ask that if you are quarantined (mandatory or self-imposed) in your home due to possible or confirmed COVID-19 exposure, PLEASE notify The West Hamilton Beach V.F.D. with your address. This can be done either confidentially by calling us at 718-843-1716, Or by placing a sign/note on your front door to alert all firefighters and EMS personnel to take additional infection-prevention precautions before we enter your home or business. By doing this you can help stop possible spread of this virus. This NOT an order to quarantine/isolate yourself, we are not issuing any directive to that effect at this time. However we do ask that you notify us if you’ve chosen to take these precautions on your own, or if you were advised to by health officials. As you have seen over the past few weeks, the information concerning this virus; whether it’s accurate or grossly embellished, can be terribly overwhelming. We urge you to follow the advice of medical professionals regarding best practices for avoiding and/or dealing with exposure to this virus. We need to protect our crews so that they will be able to continue to meet the emergency needs of our community Thank you for your cooperation on this matter. The Chiefs, Officers, & Members of The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department
