I have some very sad news to share. Roscoe and Ringo both crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We knew Roscoe was most likely going to pass, but Ringo's sudden down spiral was highly unexpected. I am crushed.. ...... While I didn't share this portion initially, upon intake, he had an inflamed and red penis that had yellow discharge. I was told the finders had him for several days prior to contacting me. (The said they had essentially been trying to contact other rehabbers who didn't r...eturn their calls). It's not uncommon for siblings and even the squirrel itself to try to nurse on these in their nests. Sometimes, to use them like a pacifier even. He was treated with antibiotics, however our best guess is that he had acquired a UTI which turned fatal fairly quickly even with the antibiotics. He became lethargic, unresponsive and then fatal within less than a 24hr time period. ....... I was away on a family vacation and was not present when they both passed. Huge thank you to a friend of mine, Megan, for taking care of them and being there as they crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Sometimes your best efforts aren't enough to save them. She buried them and sent me this beautiful picture. A perfect eternal spot. ....... I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it. I know they're cute, I know it seems "easy" to care for them at first, maybe even fun! But if you find a wild animal get them to a Rehabilitator that day- within hours if possible. Feeding the wrong things, either too much or too little.. at the wrong body temperature or times... without assessment of other issues rehabbers might identify means death almost always for these babies. I don't know for sure if I could have saved them had either one been received earlier, but I know their odds would have improved. RIP sweet babies. I'll see you again, you can bet on it.

Meet Ringo! He's been with us for a few days, and is making a great mate to Roscoe. He cuddles and loves on him, keeping him warm. ...... Felix began his journey to reclaim his wild roots! Congrats buddy! Live a great life

Roscoe continues to cling to life. We're doing everything we can for him. His life is very fragile, and honestly I can't believe he is still with us... Please.... Please, if you want to help, do not feed these babies ANYTHING, get them to a rehabber. They drink special formula made for squirrels! Not KMR, not puppy milk, not human formula, not even water.
