Another CNY clean 10 pt, mounted as a semi sneak wall pedestal.
The largest whitetail I've ever mounted. With a neck measurement at the ears just shy of 30 inches, it was nearly 5 inches larger than the biggest bodied deer I've worked on. The deer was taken in Saskatchewan and while it may not have been the highest scoring deer, it was quite impressive. The last photo shows it alongside the Kansas 8 pt. I posted yesterday.
A nice, clean, mature main frame 8 from Kansas. Also mounted as a semi sneak wall pedestal. The last 3 deer from the season came in last night from the tannery, so they should be getting mounted later this week.
A redhead drake in a standard flying pose. The last few remaining deer that came in at the close of the season are currently being tanned. They should arrive next week.
For those that have followed this page for a while, this deer I nicknamed Crooked Brow after taking him in Kansas. After 5 years, I decided to finally mount one of my own deer. On another note, most of the deer brought in this season have been mounted with a few that came in late. I'll also have a good portion of the European's done in short order also.
Two deer taken in Ohio this past fall during their archery season.
Another central NY archery whitetail mounted as a semi sneak wall pedestal. An early season cape always gives a nice clean mount.
A central NY archery whitetail. I posted this image for one reason, an issue that many hunters face each season. Just before taking this buck, trail cam pics showed the split brow on the right side. When harvested a day later, the brow broke as the deer ran off...So, the question remains, fix the antler or leave it as it was? Some say leave it, as it adds character, while others prefer to display what the deer originally had. I guess there is no right answer, some struggle with the decision and yet others, not at all. More to follow...
A central NY archery whitetail taken in mid October. I realize I haven't posted anything here for quite some time but as with anything else, life threw a couple of curve balls. I didn't know if I was going to be able to mount anything this fall, but a little perseverance seemed to work. So, I have been able to mount several whitetails already and will let those know in the very near future when they are ready to go. All euros have been sent out for the beetles to do their work. While I won't be posting every mount as in years past, I will try to get a few on here to share. Enjoy the new year everyone.
A Woodie drake from the fall season. Good luck to all who will be out tomorrow for the NY Southern Tier firearms opening day for whitetails. Hard to believe that the bow season has ended already. On another note, I will once again be heading back to Saskatchewan first thing Tuesday AM. For those that are lucky enough to harvest a trophy deer and would like me to work on it, I will return on Wednesday 11/28. If possible, after the deer is skinned, place it in a plastic bag, seal it, and freeze, You can always leave me a message here or on the home phone and I can get back to you. Good luck and have a safe season!
It's been a while since I posted anything, so here's a life size coyote that was just finished. The base is designed to be a wall mount and the client wanted a panting look. I didn't realize there was an issue with this page until someone let me know. I tried to change the "always open" to something more reasonable with hours, but FB had other ideas I guess. So, I am continuing to do the taxidermy work and will post images of mounts, however I've decided to share only a portion of the total number that come in. Posting every whitetail for instance becomes too time consuming and I'm trying to cut back on the time I've been putting into this to make things more manageable.
