IMPORTANT - PLEASE SHARE WILLOW RIDGE MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND HARRISON RESIDENTS WE NEED YOU TO BE INFORMED The town of Harrison is looking to use eminent domain (government taking of land for compensation) to take Willow Ridge. During this COVID year and within these last two months, Willow Ridge, not unlike many businesses, met financial burdens that require new solutions to move forward. During that period of time, many experienced and qualified members banded together and cr...eated a business plan to do just that. With hard work and negotiations, several interested parties offered excellent options for continuing Willow Ridge as a club. The town of Harrison, unexpectedly and in our opinion, inappropriately, decided to use this period of time when we were vulnerable, to exercise the right to take our club through eminent domain. Willow Ridge has been a part of the Harrison Community for 54 years, contributing taxes, hosting countless town functions, charities, fundraisers, school events, offering local employment and sponsoring scholarship programs. Please don’t let this end! HOW CAN YOU HELP? BE INFORMED! Learn more about our efforts at HTTPS://PROTECTHARRISONTAXPAYERS.COM The price to take Willow Ridge could cost tens of millions of dollars to the town of Harrison, including millions more for operating costs, repairs and capital improvements The property would become tax-exempt meaning school, fire, and county would lose $200,000 a year in taxes that the club pays annually. Willow Ridge has been paying taxes for 54 years! Taxpayers would assume these costs via tax increases. Protracted litigation and substantial legal fees paid by taxpayers. Payment for the property, now zoned for single-family home development on one-acre parcels, would cost tens of millions of dollars if taken by eminent domain. The property will potentially lie dormant for years during the court fight, making it an eyesore. Thereafter, the cost to re-condition the golf course and other Club facilities after a period of non-use, just to be able to open, would be well over $1 million. TAKE ACTION! Let your voice be heard! Participate via Zoom at the Dec. 17th Town Public Hearing. You must register in advance for this Zoom meeting at; https://us02web.zoom.us/.../reg.../WN_Pi-fkVI4T3OW51PvanCKRQ Once registered, submit a statement opposing eminent domain to the email address provided.
