I find myself quite annoyed at not having been able to go to Vermont or upstate NY to view foliage (leaf peep if you will) But just this afternoon came across some interesting fall color right around the corner from and at a nearby pond. I just thought anybody with similar observations with photos should just post them here. Perhaps we can enjoy something that can take our minds off Coronavirus and politics

Cheers for some utility workers from Texas who restored what is hopefully last place in Williston Park without power - Temple St. Apparently there was a break in the wires tangled up in the tress where it couldn't easily be seen.

Good morning Williston Park Recreation I would like to give you all a heads up that tomorrow morning at approximately 1115 am the Williston Park Fire Department... will conduct a Memorial Day drive by thru the Village. We will be driving what would be the Memorial Day parade route. if you are able to be out and see us please remember to wear face coverings and social distance. Please have a Happy & Safe Memorial Day as we honor all those who served in the Military and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. See more

Memorial Day is Monday May 24. This observance will be unlike all the others. Sadly, there will be no parade through the Village. Those of us who usually start the day by marching in or watching it will miss the opportunity to honor veterans who have given their lives in service to our great country and to show support for all veterans and active military personnel. But we can still observe the day. Each household can fly an American flag or print the graphic available... on the Nassau County website https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/489/County-Legislature - and display it for all to see. We may miss the traditions we have come to expect, but we can still celebrate our amazing country. We have not lost our freedoms that were won in so many wars. So this year, on this Memorial Day like no other, take some time to do things that make you feel connected to family, friends and neighbors. That could be through the internet or simply taking a leisurely stroll (socially distanced, of course) or grilling favorite barbecue goodies. Reflect. Make a phone call to someone living alone. Do a good deed. Offer prayers. Laugh. Play games. Dance. Sing. And if you know a veteran, be sure to say Thank you. God Bless America See more

FRIDAY MAY 15th 7pm Residents of Williston Park; East Williston & Mineola invited to give May College Graduates a toast (organized by Mayor Parente with Mayors Ehrbar & Strauss) Hats off! Raise your glass as we toast our graduates. The month of May is traditionally a time of celebration for students graduating from colleges and universities across the country. It appears that all of those on-campus celebrations have been replaced by distant individual celebrations.... This Friday, at precisely 7pm, please go outside of your home and walk to the curb. The EW fire siren will sound and we should make some noise (honk your car horns, bang your pots and pans) and then, raise your age-appropriate glass and toast to the college graduates. College graduates, please come outside in your college colors and let us raise a glass to your accomplishments. We are proud of you and we want to show you. As always, please keep a safe social distance of six feet and please wear a mask for face covering to protect yourself and your neighbors. CONGRATULATIONS!
