Early this morning WPFD responded to a 2nd Alarm structure fire at 38 Concord in Battle Hill, with reports of occupants trapped. First arriving PD units had 2 o...ccupants trapped on a second floor balcony, and another who had climbed out of a window and onto the roof. Quick thinking officers threw a ladder from an ESU truck and rescued the trapped occupants. FD units made an aggressive interior attack but were forced to evacuate when one of our guys partially fell through a set of stairs making a push to the fully involved 3rd floor. 2 members underneath the collapsing stairs were hit with falling debris, sending both to the hospital, one with 2nd degree burns. Another was transported for chest pains along with 3 occupants of the house with unknown burn injuries. Wishing all a speedy recovery. Photo credit Chris Firebike See more

We will never forget the dead and the ultimate sacrifice they made that day. 19 years on, let us not forget our brothers, sisters and many others who still struggle with the effects from that devistating day. Many of them have been fighting, have fought, or have yet begun to fight the long term and dark lingering effects of that day that still haunts us all. #neverforget #9/11/01

**EMERGENCY PSA** There is a major water main break in White Plains right now affecting a large part of the city’s water service. Along with your domestic water supply, our fire hydrants are affected as well. We have mutual aid water tankers on standby from around the county in the event of a fire. We ask that you please keep vigilant in remaining fire safe: please keep a close eye on all of your cooking and any electrical devices you are using, as well as any open flame inside or outside of your residence. We are hoping this will be resolved soon.

We had the solemn honor of adding two names of our recently departed brothers to our LODD memorial in front of Station 6. Lt. Clark Douglass who passed away July 2018 as a result of 9/11 cancer, and DC Edward Ciocca, who passed away due to COVID 19 this past May. Their names will be forever etched in stone, reminding all who gaze upon the monument of their ultimate sacrifice. Rest In Peace brothers.

Some tips and information from Local 274 The best way to enjoy fireworks and prevent injury is to watch a professional show. Many firework-related injuries are preventable. ... Fireworks injure more than 10,000 people each year. Safety matters around every type of firework. Even sparklers can reach 1,200 degrees Watch your children around fireworks! The risk of fireworks injuries for children under 15 is twice as high than the general population. There are two times as many fires reported on Independence Day than on any other day. 50% of those are from fireworks. Fire fighters are overloaded with calls on Independence Day. Give them a break and watch a professional show this year. Don’t forget about your furry friends when things get loud. Find a safe place for them. Use a noise machine or the TV to help keep them calm.

Yesterday afternoon White Plains Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 3 Lakeview Dr. in The Ridge neighborhood. First due companies were advised on arrival there may be a dog trapped on the second floor. Crews were met with severe clutter and made an aggressive interior attack knocking down the fire on the first floor, then located the dog unconscious in a second floor bedroom while conducting primary searches. The dog was handed off through the window to outside crews and brought down by ground ladder and immediately received first aid and oxygen. We are happy to report that despite being 16 years old and found unconscious, the dog survived and is expected to make a full recovery. Great job by the brothers of Group 4!

At approximately 415 this morning, White Plains Fire Department was dispatched to 100 Main Street for a suicidal party on the roof.TL6 was originally dispatched and after accessing the scene, requested Rescue 88 to respond.Upon reaching the roof with all our tools and ropes,we encountered a man sitting on the roof of the ventilation fans which was about a 3 foot gap from the garage roof.We got right to work sending one firefighter onto the roof he was on via a ladder we used ...to fill the gap between buildings. He was wearing a harness and attached to a rope system that we set up.We put a harness on him and were originally going to lower him to the roof below, but decided because of his leg injury to package him into a Stokes basket and send him back across the ladder to one roof, then down again to the waiting ambulance.A great job by Group 1 TL6 and R88 crews.
