It was interesting to view the Waxing Gibbous Moon rising above the silhouette of trees here in Cameron Mills this evening. This type of moon will arise in the ...east in mid-afternoon, and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset. The word Gibbous comes from the Latin word "gibbosus" meaning humpbacked. This phase is when the moon is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a full moon. Today's phase On November 28th has an illumination of 97%, as seen in this photo, and is 13.04 days old. This refers to how many days since the last New Moon. See more
