The body is extremely intelligent: it is resilient and has an ingrained instinct to survive and thrive. Oftentimes, the body is able to reduce anxiety and increase a sense of well-being by tapping into its own hardwiring which encourages a shift in brain chemistry and stress hormones. However, in some cases, tapping into that hardwiring can prove to be difficult. Head to our blog for Yinova practitioner Dr. Kelsey Tangel’s advice on some natural remedies to help reduce anxiety and start the healing process.

While the exact cause of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is unknown, an excess of androgen hormones, high insulin levels, stress, low-grade inflammation, obesity, and genetic predisposition can contribute to the incidence of PCOS. One of the main things we tell our patients is to work on the things that are within their control. Stress and weight gain are two things that can be controlled with diet and exercise. Inflammation and insulin levels are also well controlled with diet and exercise to some extent. We're discussing why consistent exercise and certain dietary adjustments may be to help to alleviate symptoms of PCOS and has offered some advice on some food swaps that could have an impact, over on our blog.

Not only can PCOS cause irregular menses & weight gain, it can also wreak havoc on the skin. At the root of the condition is a hormone imbalance & at the root of that imbalance lies poor insulin metabolism. This leads to high levels of insulin which in turn causes an increase in androgens such as testosterone. The skin is particularly sensitive to even small increases in testosterone which is why people with PCOS often experience acne & excessive hair growth. Higher insul...in levels can also cause dark patches on the skin or skin tags. At Yinova we use acupuncture & herbs to get to the hormonal root of PCOS as well as to treat the skin directly. Yinova founder Jill Blakeway is explaining PCOS-related skin concerns & the ways that Chinese medicine can help bring your hormones back into balance over on our blog. See more
