NY update - limited access remains the same. Please see previous post. ALAMEDA update: the court does have limited access! We were able to run civil and criminal searches today. Copies are limited. ORANGE County update: was slated for possible opening today, but clerk posted new information this morning: Court to remain closed through at least May 22nd.... *please feel free to call/email us with any questions about specific jurisdictions*

NY UPDATE: As of 4/22 we have limited access to the County Clerk’s office and access to some of the onsite databases. We can search UCC, Fed tax, State Tax, judgment liens in all counties. We can also search Supreme Court in NY, Richmond and Bronx. CA UPDATE: Alameda court (civil/criminal) has notified us that they will be open starting Monday 4/27. They will allow one person in at a time for 15 minutes. This isn't a lot of time, but we'll work as efficiently as we can. ... Copies may not be available. LA & Orange County Clerks are still closed with no ETA. Orange County Court will be open on Monday 4/27 we hope. LA County Court is closed until May 12th as of last notice. We obviously have some catching up to do and will process requests in the order received. We appreciate your patience during this transition!

Well, these are unusual times for sure. What we're discovering, is that people seem to be craving human connection. So, we've decided to give you a little peak into what it looks like to Zook Search in place! Many of you have never met us, or even seen a picture. So while we have a little time on our hands, we thought we'd re-introduce ourselves :). Like most of you, our homes have become classrooms, multi-use offices, gyms, playrooms...here's how the owners of Zook Searc...h are coping: Joe Cavallo (NY) has found a cozy corner to keep in touch with yous. Dan Zook (CA) is doing his part to stay safe. And his son is making it more fun! Dana Zook (CA) is getting some help from Lyla (who has been around almost as long as Zook Search!) We look forward to getting back out there to work for you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy! Joe, Dan, and Dana

Zook Searching in Place part II: Sean Anderson (CA) says he had a bit of a mishap with a "stay at home haircut," but we can't tell... Danny Cozart (CA) is your San Francisco guru - he's the one who gets those results to you in under 24 hours! While the county is closed, he's researching the great outdoors with his family.... Lily Sevier (CA) only just came on board with Zook Search in January to help us expand into Contra Costa. She's one of the quickest learners we know and is so ready to continue her training, but in the meantime here's what she's been up to :) "Well, I don't know about all of you, but things have been crazy busy on my end! I opened my very own museum, I moved into a house that I created, and doing tons of fishing."

While our NY, LA, and SF offices are under shelter in place orders, we want you to know that we are anxious to get back to work and are here for you if you have questions/concerns. We are staying in touch with contacts we have within the courts/recorders and closely monitoring the ever changing news. There are certain limited services we can offer so please feel free to reach out if there is something you need and we will do everything we can to help. Mostly we're keeping a very organized pending file and will tackle it as soon as we possibly can. And we will all have very clean hands, desks, and closets when this over. Please stay safe and know that Zook Search is wishing you and your family health, safety, and peace.

'At least 22 California counties said they would stop recording federal tax lien documents after the Internal Revenue Service told them it would reduce the recording fees it pays in California effective Oct. 1, according to a survey of county recorders taken in the wake of the fee spat.'

Parts of the bay area are currently without power. We are currently getting by using coffee shops and we still have cell service, but it is going to be weird for a bit. Rumor has it that Southern California may be next.
