This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the founding of Allegany State Park. Throughout its first 100 years, this park has become an invaluable and cherished resource for over 1.5 million annual visitors who come to enjoy it’s abundant natural resources, take advantage of limitless recreational opportunities, or just spend time relaxing with family and friends. Allegany State Park has also played host to countless special moments and family traditions that contribute to... the historic fabric of this beloved place. As we prepare to mark this momentous occasion with a virtual celebration on July 30th, the day the park was officially opened in 1921, we want to hear from you. What makes Allegany State Park so special to you? What fond memories do you have of the park? What traditions have you and/or your family built around this wonderful place? We wouldn’t be able to tell the full history of Allegany State Park without recognizing these important personal connections, and we look forward to featuring a selection of visitor experiences and memories in our virtual celebration. Please send a brief summary of your special moment / fond memory / traditions to [email protected] with the subject line Allegany Diaries. We will review submissions and reach out to selected candidates in order to proceed with production of this portion of the virtual celebration. We can’t wait to hear from you!
