PARLIAMENTARY REGISTRATION DEPARTMENT - ADVANCE POLL ELIGIBILITY - BAHAMAS GENERAL ELECTIONS 2021

ENROLLMENT TO VOTE IN OVERSEAS ADVANCE POLLING BAHAMAS GENERAL ELECTIONS 2021 DEADLINE: THURSDAY, 26TH AUGUST, 2021, 3:00PM... In accordance with Section 49(A) 1 of the Parliamentary Elections Act (Chapter 7) 2021, the Bahamas Consulate General New York wishes to advise the following categories of eligible registrants to enroll as an overseas voter for the Advance Polling (TBA) by submitting FORM J: i) a student, or the spouse accompanying such student, pursuing a bona fide program of study outside of The Bahamas; ii) a member of staff of any embassy, high commission or other foreign mission of The Bahamas who is posted overseas, or the spouse or any immediate member of the family living within the household of that member of staff; iii) a public officer, or a member of staff of the Ministry of Tourism or any delegation of The Bahamas who is on official duty overseas or the spouse of such person or any immediate member of the family living within the household of that member of staff; or iv) a member of staff of the Bahamas Maritime Authority or any other agency of the Government of The Bahamas, or the spouse of such person or any immediate member of the family living within the household of that member of staff. CLOSED VOTER’S REGISTRATION DRIVE Please be informed that under Article 66 (2) of the Constitution, the Provost Marshall and Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officially announced the dissolution of the House of Assembly at 10:00 a.m., 19th of August, 2021. As a result, Voter’s Registration at The Bahamas Consulate General New York has been closed.

I’m writing to you today because the time has come for me to say goodbye. I’m ending my Tour of Duty as Consul/Head of Chancery at The Bahamas Consulate General New York and my final working day will be 21st February 2021. I wanted to write you personally to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed working together and getting to know you all over the course of the last seven years. Clients and friends such as yourself were one of the best parts of the job. Your smiles and interactions always enriched my day and contributed to making my time here all the better. The Bahamas Consulate General, New York, accepts the fact that diplomatic officers are rotated on a regular basis, but is saddened over the recall of our departing foreign service officer, Consul Joy Newbold. Consul has completed her tour of duty, a very successful one, and will be demitting office on February 21st.
