Shipping this nine-tailed kitsune fox to Colorado! Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox or fox spirit. In Japanese folklore, a kitsune can shapeshift into a human, especially a beautiful cunning woman, by placing a human skull on it's head. The more tails a kitsune has (they may have as many as nine) the older, wiser, and more magical it is. If you’re reading this, thanks for looking!#taxidermy @ Brooklyn Taxidermy

This was a fun commission piece based on the skunk character from a board game called Everdell (see last pic for reference pic). Hat handmade by @thehandandtheshadow. This one was made up at @amarkvanleuven’s shop. #taxidermy @ Brooklyn Taxidermy

Saying bye to this raccoon that went to @jinxandheart. Thank you to everyone who’s bought stuff/given me commissions/supported my online shop during these months. It means everything to me.

Please tag someone who may be interested! Our precious studio assistant Lucia moved back to Florida so we’re in need of some part-time help at the taxidermy studio starting asap for the holidays and beyond. Must be able to commit to 1-2 days per week during studio hours, 10am-5pm on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. This is unpaid to start but your time can be exchanged for taxidermy items or for free seats in our Saturday group classes, and could lead to a paid position. Bonus ...points if you are familiar with any of the following: using Shopify, Squarespace, Etsy, Mailchimp, EBay, Photoshop, product photography, packing and shipping fragile items, staining and finishing wood frames and plaques, cutting glass, using a band saw/drill press/belt sander/drill/dremel/epoxy/general fabrication, upholstery, miniatures, pinning butterflies, skinning birds and mammals, casting and silicone mold making, or you have taken classes from me before. Or, I can maybe train the right person. You may also be able to work remotely/take projects home with you to work on independently. This is NOT an apprenticeship. This is your labor in exchange for taxidermy product or seats in group lessons, which could potentially turn into a paid position as a studio assistant. If you have ever reached out to us in the past about anything like this, now is a great time to email us. If interested, please email a bit about yourself, your availability, links to social media, resume, etc. #taxidermy See more

Meet me at the cemetery gates. Today I visited the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery and Crematorium in NY (near Yonkers) to pick up and transport a cat for @amarkvanleuven to taxidermy. (The owners decided to go with taxidermy instead of a burial at the last minute.) It was founded in 1896 as the first US pet cemetery and is the oldest still-operating pet cemetery in the world, with over 80,000 pets and over 700 people who decided to be buried beside their pets (it’s illegal to bury pets in human cemeteries but not vice versa). I was kindly given a behind the scenes tour by the staff, it was amazing to see how it all works and to see so much love memorialized. @ Hartsdale Pet Cemetery
