In honor of World Polio Day, tonight Saturday, October 24th Niagara Falls will be illuminated in the blue and gold colors of Rotary to celebrate World Polio Day between 10 and 10:15 PM. The Electric Tower in Buffalo will be lit in Rotary’s colors of blue and gold this evening, after dusk. WGRZ, Channel 2, usually shows the lighting during their weather forecast. You are invited to see it in person downtown (good photo op at any time you wish) and can see it on TV the 11:00 pm news. Photo: Iskalo Development Corp.

Today is World Polio Day. And to help raise funds to eradicate polio, the Rotary District 7090 clubs held its "Pedal for Polio" fundraiser. https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=332445041385420&ref=watch_permalink... Poliomyelitis polio is a highly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. Most know it as poliovirus. The virus is spread person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Although there is no cure, there is a safe and effective vaccine one which Rotary and our partners use to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide. Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good.

Rotary Club of Buffalo 27.04.2020

The Rotary Club of Buffalo’s Zoom meeting today featuring Gary Costello, president of the Hull House Foundation. It’s the oldest surviving stone house in Erie County and Americana At Its Best. Visit the circa 1810 Hull Family Home & Farmstead, built by Warren Hull, a Revolutionary War veteran who traveled west from New England with his wife Polly and their children. From this site, the only fully restored stone dwelling of the early 1800's in Erie county, 200 years of history can be told the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 & the burning of Buffalo, the opening and impact of the Erie Canal, early pioneer life, the Abolitionist movement, and much more on into the 20th century. Archaeological digs have revealed clues to how the family lived, worked and played, and have led to plans to reconstruct out-buildings and the farmstead.
