Burden Pond Preserve

Its incredible to be building trail systems in our city, and come across vandalized newly posted trail signs... disheartening, really. With everything happening in the world right now, it feels almost insurmountable right now, but our community resources are here to ease that. To give us refuge from the outside world. Seeing this chopped up sign in the middle of the preserve was hard to take.

Looking towards the future, the Burden Pond Environmental Park is now the Burden Pond Preserve! This new name shows what the future holds for the area, preserving the land for everyone's current and future recreational, educational and environmental uses. Same park, new name!

Happy Earth Day! For its 50th anniversary, we are challenging you to take action to help the planet! Share photos of you completing the tasks and comment how you protect the environment!

We will have updates on The Narrows: Cascades & Heritage Trail through our park. Currently there are yellow (main trail) and orange (spur trail) makers along the route. The trail currently ends before the eventual Campbell Avenue entrance due to the conditions of the area until the trail is properly built. According to the NYS Govenors office, solitary outdoor exercise is permitted. If you do visit the trails, please do your best to avoid others and then spread of germs if you are going away from your home.
