2015 Volnay 1er Cru, Taillepieds, Domaine Dublere Treat it like Grand Cru! Yes, it's 2015 and you want to drink it now! Yes, it's Volnay, so you may think it's all red fruits and flowers - but no - Taillepieds is a glorious and serious Volnay that has the "right stuff" to go the long haul and evolve with time. We opened a bottle Saturday - delicious and young. Great aromatics - raspberries and florals. Rich and deep on the palate, mingling black cherries, raspberries and red highlights - blossoming with sweet spice notes, violets, minerals and dark chocolate. Great length and fine acidity. No rush - this has time on its side. Want some?

Fabulous at 50! Lovely aromatics. Delicate and deliciously nuanced, with impressive palate presence, subtle depth and wonderful length. Blossomed in the glass with a sense of lovely sweetness. More delightful with every sip. Over 2 hours, never faded, just kept going amazing! Don’t be alarmed by the pitcher we weren’t planning on making Sangria. That was simply a practical matter. The cork fell apart when opening (gentle as we were) and we needed a large mouthed ...vessel to effectively filter it out. So - what prompted me to open it. Well, someone was planning to buy it, but when I was shown the bottle, after it was pulled from our cellar, I had concerns (primarily the smudge on the neck label) and cautioned the buyer, who then agreed it was not worth the risk. So what’s a gal to do with a bottle of 69 Volnay 1er Cru, Santenots, Leroy that she is hesitant to sell? Easy test drive it with the staff. A happy Saturday for the team. Brian said it might be the wine of the year.
