LaVergne and Deneise Cartwright spent some social distancing time exploring the Cartwright Farm and revisiting our old sugar shack that burned down in 1962, and paved the way for what is now Cartwright’s Maple Tree Inn. Austin Cartwright (Owner Ronald’s grandfather) built a small sugar shack in the sugar bush located on farm land he purchased from Jacob Cartwright in 1913. Ronald and his brother, Clarence, along with their grandfather made syrup in that shack until it bur...ned down in 1937. They rebuilt the shack and continued until it also burned down in 1962. Ronald decided at that time to move it’s location and this time it was going to be different- a restaurant where his wife Virginia could make pancakes for folks to eat and try the maple syrup they produced. This shack is a reminder to never forget our roots and where it all started.

We are proud to partner with FitzPatrick Farm Market & Deli to sell the rest of our maple sugar from this season! Our family frequents this local market often and we love not only the products they provide but their love for community! Thank you CJ and Shane for providing us a way to continue to sell some product!

Our owner and matriarch, Virginia Cartwright, and our family, want to convey our sincere appreciation to the medical community, military, grocery store workers and other essential workers who are still working and supporting our communities. While it is hard closing up shop early, we understand that that others are on the front line each day and they deserve our thanks, support and prayers. Customers-It is with very heavy hearts that we announce we are closed for the season as of 8pm today (3/16) in compliance with the Governor’s mandate. We will not be reopening this season due to the nature of our business. We are heartbroken to have to do this. This is uncharted territory and we will always strive to do our best. Please be kind with your words, we are a family business and this weighs heavily on all of us. We will be selling maple products and perishable foo...d this week during the hours of 9-6 Tues-Fri. We will let customers in one at a time to purchase to limit exposure. We have already set aside items to donate to the local food pantry and any leftover items will be donated as well. Products available: all regular gift shop items, eggs, milk, juice, sausage, ham, pies, bread, soda, and more. Thank you to all our customers from the bottom of our hearts.
