Since we're about a month out from the CCNY Fall 2016 Athletics CUNYAC Championships, thought we might as well do a #ThrowbackThursday to the CCNY Men's Soccer team winning the championship title last year and getting a bid to the NCAA Tournament after a 10 year drought! Hope this provides some motivation to their team and the other teams competing. With the women's soccer team and the men's soccer team putting up strong fronts this season with the addition of new and strong components to their teams, we expect to be seeing more trophies being lifted into the air come the conclusion of this season! shots from the #CCNY Men's soccer game against Hunter, this past Saturday. The Beaver's fell to the Hawks 1-2.
After a shaky and scoreless first half, the CCNY Men's Soccer team were able to pull through with two goals in the second half of today's conference game against the Baruch Bearcats. After holding off the opposing team that was hungry for redemption (capping one goal immediately after the Beaver's second goal), the final score of 2-1 was enough to put another CUNYAC win under their belts. The Beavers are now 2-0-1 in the conference standings. Photos by Taylor Jo Gillen and Curtis Ashley.

A long, drawn out game due to a lightning delay, ended with another loss for the troubled Beavers. CCNY was unable to fight back, after having tied the game 1-1 before the break. City fell 1-4 to CNR, and sport a 2-4-0 record heading into Saturday's match-up against CSI. Photos by Taylor Jo Gillen and Curtis Ashley

A message to the City College community from former Director of Athletics, Dr, Kevin Abdur-Rahman, on the recent news surrounding his past: "I know most of you read a NY Post article about me. Let me begin by saying I am not writing to set the record straight. Although the depiction of my past was grossly inaccurate I am writing to you to say thank you and to tell you that although the Post inferred that CCNY was negligent or some how dropped the ball for having me on that ca...mpus for 23 years that is the farthest from the truth. If a person has to put their life back together there is no place on earth better to do that than The City College of New York. CCNY provides an environment fertile for human growth and development and it provided me an opportunity to give back to the world far much more than what I took from it. Forty nine years ago as a stupid 15 year old I decided that I wanted to be a drug dealer and aspired to one day be one of the top illegal money earners to ever come from the streets of Philadelphia. Mercifully that dreamed ended when I was sent to prison at age 23 for 10 years. What you read in the Post were not my actions but because I was present and had committed other crimes even though they were lesser crimes I none the less was considered a responsible party which I take full responsibility for. I do think that the 10 years of my life and the more than 40 years of remorse for those victims that I live with every day for that nightmare that lasted a mere hour or so should be considered my debt to society as payment in full. I am so sorry and embarrassed if any of you feel that I have brought shame on the college, however, on the contrary we have brought honor to each other. CCNY has given me a format and platform to prove that the human soul can be repaired and find its rightful place to do good in the world. I hope CCNY can look past their embarrassment and accept that the work I was able to accomplish on that campus positively impacting the lives of young people for 23 years will give them pride knowing that there are very few places in our society where second chances can be so remarkable. Thank you and I love you CCNY." Leave your thoughts on what the former AD had to say in the comments below.

The men were able to come out on top, claiming their 6th straight conference title to accompany their 6th straight win they also had during the indoor season. On the women's side, the Lady Beavers received runner-up accolades, an achievement they were most proud of in itself since their goal was to fight to break into the Top 3.
