All about Mezuzah at Chabad Orange Hebrew School

Another week...means another great week at over 350 Hebrew Schools! Students this week went on a doorway hunt around their homes and schools, checking what rooms needed Mezuzot. They used an app to figure out where to place their Mezuzot on the door. They learned the rules of where to place their Mezuzot through an interactive game, covering up Mezuzot that weren't kosher, were placed incorrectly, and that were on rooms that didn't need Mezuzot, such as restrooms and closets.... They followed a child throughout her afternoon and counted how many times she kissed the Mezuzot in her house. They realized how many times it's possible to kiss Mezuzot throughout the day! They virtually traveled throughout a Jewish neighborhood and noticed how many Mezuzot were on doorposts- symbolizing #jewishpride! They realized just how a Mezuzah helps us behave appropriately- when you realize that Hashem is there and watching you. They also learned how Hashem protects you when you put a Mezuzah on your door. Win-Win on both ends! Then, students participated in a fun Escape Room Challenge, which taught them what a Kosher Mezuzah Parchment looks like, and learned how the Shema is written upon the parchment through a skilled scribe. Finally, this fun day wrapped up with students creating their very own Mezuzah cases to hang on their bedrooms through Polymer Clay, Foil Art, or glow-in-the-dark loom bands! Wow! What an amazing Menorah Contest! We got so many beautiful creative Menorahs. Everyone should be proud of their work and everyone that participated is a tru...e winner for spreading the light of Chanukah! For the top 3 winners, the one that received the most likes is Diana Rubenstein's three sons, Elad, Raziel, and Roi for their menorah made with colored sand, blue and white theme, sparkles, fake snow, and loads of love! The one with the most likes on Facebook and won for creativity as well was Eva Reubeni-Gill Amira Reubeni, for her colorful and sparkly sand art Menorah!
