Need a Feel Good Story today?! Us too. Cue, little Florie, one of our Delaware Soccer Club House players from an amazing DSC family. Flo had seen lots of homeless people walking around the neighborhood and wanted to help out. She worked hard to fundraise and teamed up with our DSC sponsor, Oh Goodie Bags and Gift Baskets. Florie is a part of Dotty’s current community service initiative to support Friends Feeding Friends and we would love to have our DSC families team up wit...h us as well! Florie passed along $900 worth of $5 Tim Hortons Cafe and Bake Shop gift cards to be added to the Oh Goodie! Hug-In-A-Bag fundraiser. These bags are filled with blankets, scarves, gloves, hand knitted hats, toiletries, snacks, and Florie’s $5 Tim Cards. Hug-In-A-Bag is available for $20 to be kept in your vehicle to be gifted when you encounter a friend on the streets that may be in need. You may also purchase bags and we will pass them along to Regina of Friends Feeding Friends - she’s out in downtown Buffalo serving up home cooked meals and distributing food and supplies three times a week. 100% of proceeds will help Regina purchase food and necessities for our friends in need. Friends Feeding Friends is truly a grassroots organization that Regina started when she wanted to make a difference. Recently, Grace, one of our DSC Travel players headed downtown to distribute Hug-In-A-Bags and plans to return this weekend to pass out more, along with snacks and comfort items. We are really proud of Florie and love knowing that she understands the importance of looking out for others in our community. Day #5 of DSC Sharing brings us to the Saturday Spotlight on a DSC Alumnus, Jeff Reed. Jeff has been a part of DSC as a player, Coach, and is currently on our Board of Directors. Jeff says that through DSC, he was able to learn about diversity, respect for his teammates, Coach, community, as well as teamwork. Reed confirms that these all played an important role in his life as a college student and professional. Jeff returned to work with DSC as a Board member because h...e wanted to help young people get the same experiences and knowledge that he gained when he was a kid. Jeff is active in our soccer community and can often be found at our friend & neighbor, Més Que for big futbol matches.
