Hello Deaf Community I am Tamera Gaudet-Doody with DPU ( Deaf People United). As we all know that we have been in this disaster/crisis time with COVID-19 and we are greatly impacted by that a big time. Yet, we all are in this together- stay safe and stay strong as we go. Tough, thot!... We DPU would like to share and keep you updated about our Democratic primaries since it has been quiet amid COVID19 crisis. As you may already know that our Senator Bernie Sanders dropped out of Democratic Race and Our Former VP Joe Biden is now as the presumptive nominee. We may wonder what we are going to do with our Democratic primaries during this crisis with COVID 19 and are primaries still on? Yes , it is but its changed. All primaries are supposed to be done before or by June 9th but DNC allows to approve waivers to move their primaries vote past June 9 . So 16 states and 1 territory have already postponed primary elections and also expanding vote by mail options as DNC chairman Tom Perez urges all States to expand use of voting by mail, no excuse absentee voting, curbside ballot drop offs and early voting to possibly avoid putting yourself at risk to do vote in person. Here are the states listed with primary votes dates: March 17: Arizona, Florida, Illinois (voted) April 7: Wisconsin (voted) April 10: Alaska (voted entirely by mail) April 17: Wyoming (now voting entirely by mail) April 28: Ohio (postponed from March 17) May 2: Guam (caucuses), Kansas May 12: Nebraska May 19: Oregon May 22: Hawaii (now voting entirely by mail) June 2: Delaware (new date), D.C., Indiana (new date), Maryland (new date), Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania (new date), Rhode Island (new date), South Dakota June 6: Virgin Islands (caucuses) June 9: Georgia (new date), West Virginia (new date) June 23: Kentucky (new date), New York (new date), Virginia congressional primaries (new date) July 7: New Jersey (postponed from June 2) July 11: Louisiana (postponed from April 4) July 14: Alabama Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate seat (postponed from March 31) Aug. 11: Connecticut primary (postponed from April 28) T.B.D.: Puerto Rico (postponed from March 29) Week of Aug. 17: Democratic National Convention (postponed from July 13-16) Aug. 24-27: Republican National Convention For Ohio residents, the primary will be held on April 28 and here is the link below u may want to find out how to do vote by mail : https://www.10tv.com/a/how-vote-mail-ohios-primary-2020-apr Ohio has 136 pledged delegates. Next primary after Ohio is May 2 for Guam , its a territory, not a state and Kansas. I will keep you posted with its links on DPU page here soon.
