Change doesn't happen alone. It takes people coming together to see it and we are honored for the many like @bombas who have come alongside us to serve this great city. People are being empowered, communities are being changed, and God is encountering his people in a new way. We GET to do this!... - #WhatRemainsInitiative #Volunteer #NYC #VolunteerNYC #ChurchNYC #NonProfitNYC #WeGetToServe #DreamCenter #DreamCenterNYC #MetroWorldChild #PartnershipNYC #InThisTogether #NewYorkStrong #NewYorkTough #ForTheOne See more

Throughout the pandemic, we have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of people who have chosen to serve alongside us. Among the many we have had the privilege to work with, some individuals have made the commitment to volunteer week after week. We first met Nichole in the summer time when she first served with us in our warehouse and she has come back almost every week since. We asked her why she decided to keep coming back; here's what she had to say.... "I just wanted a way to give back to my community and to be more involved. I wanted something to do that actually gave me a purpose." We asked her what is one thing she would say to people on the fence of volunteering and she went on to say, "The feeling of doing something for other people just brings such happiness, even in such a simple way. It is easy to overcome your fear of Covid when you know you're doing something better." #WhatRemainsInitiative

Since the beginning of the #WhatRemainsInitiative we have seen over 500 individuals rise up to support our city from all different backgrounds, ages, and life experiences. Two of these individuals are Lucas and Devon. Lucas started serving in the warehouse with his mom back in March when our initiative first began. A few months later, he invited Devon to get involved. Both Lucas and Devon are in high school, and they have been volunteering with us EVERY SATURDAY since they fi...rst starting serving. We asked Lucas & Devon why they have continued to come back week after week to volunteer. Here is what they had to say: "I felt like I wanted do more and I kept wanting to do more." Lucas said. Devon went on to say "I never really volunteered before, and I realized how much you give back in such a small amount of time." We asked them if there was anything they would want to say to other young people about getting involved, and Devon went on to say "It really helps the people around you. People you may not even realize you're helping. Maybe even some of your own peers will be getting these boxes of food you're making!" Change happens one person at a time. It only takes someone saying YES. If you are ready to say YES and want to learn more about volunteering with us, visit the link in our bio and click "Volunteer.
