The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts has promoted inclusivity and the building of bridges amongst our wonderfully diverse and vibrant community. We stand with the small, independent business that have helped to support the festival for twenty years. Here is the list we have of small, independent businesses on Elmwood that sustained damages last night. Please patronize them if possible and if not, contact them to see how you can help. The Festival will donate $100 to any... of these businesses that need help with deductibles or costs related to the damage. Please IM us if you are an Elmwood business that needs help or can help us with helping our businesses. Dear Friends, It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 21st Annual Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The festival is a large public event that has always been free and open to all. Our Committee has come to the conclusion that we cannot honestly create a safe environment for our all volunteer staff, 250 volunteers, 170 artists, 55 cultural groups, food vendors and tens of thousands of attendees. We also believe we wo...uld not be granted all of the permits from the state, county and city needed to legally operate. We plan on creating ongoing artist, craftspeople and musician promotions as well as concerts. Links will be on our website (https://elmwoodartfest.org) and our Facebook page. If able, please support all of our artists and the Elmwood businesses. Almost all festivals have been canceled for the summer. Many artists and musicians are facing significant losses of income. We are so grateful for all the love and support the festival has received over the past two decades. The dates for 2021 are August 28-29. We look forward to another twenty years of bringing our community together to celebrate the creative spirit we all share. Sincerely, Joe DiPasquale for The Festival Committee

Dear Festival Family, We know you're all dealing with a lot right now and all of us here at the GrassRoots Festival are in it with you, hoping for the best and ...doing what we can to keep all of us safe. As of now, the 30th Annual GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance will go forward as planned. As things progress, we will keep you all apprised of any changes. We are working on getting our digital outlets moving to keep us all connected to the music and to each other during this separation. Please subscribe to our YouTube Channel that will be growing in the coming weeks. Remember, you are not alone, we are not alone, GrassRoots is going to share resources that will support our communities and offer direct support with live streaming to our musicians through these trying and uncertain times. We are looking forward to the time that we can all celebrate and all be together again. We are wishing you all peace and health. We love you all! With Gratitude, The GrassRoots Festival Team

RE- COVID-19 and the 2020 Annual Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts March 24, 2020... Dear Festival Community Members, Our thoughts go out to all the people ill with and affected by COVID-19 and we feel deep gratitude towards the frontline people, in our hospitals and elsewhere, who are being so courageous to help us all. The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts is scheduled to take place on August 29th and 30th. As of now it is too early to know if it will take place or not. We will continue to plan as if it will. The Festival is a vital economic opportunity for many artists, craftspeople and small businesses to not keep the planning going. Some experts are of the opinion that when summer temperatures and humidity arrive the virus may recede in outdoor settings. It’s still too early to know for sure. There are many factors. A good article is here-https://www.weforum.org//coronavirus-covid-19-mers-sars-e/ What we are doing- - We will follow all applicable CDC guidelines for community mitigation strategies if the Festival takes place. - The following application deadlines have been extended to June 1st- Arts and Crafts, Food Vendors, not for profit organizations, Dance Groups and Healing Arts. - All booth fee payment deadlines will be extended, but dates cannot be determined yet. - The Festival will work with all vendors who may need payment extensions. - The Performance application deadline will remain May 15th. - If the Festival is cancelled, all booth fee payments will be refunded. If you are able, please continue to support our artists, craftspeople, musician, small businesses and non-profit organizations. Almost fifty percent of the jobs in the United States are created by businesses like theirs. We plan on creating a page on our website that will have links for the festival participants and applicants from the last two years. If you are from Western New York, here is Cooperation Buffalo’s List of Covid-19 Resources, including information for artists and small businesses. https://docs.google.com//1bRuJT_RArazDXYuUPB4dTWKanVQ/edit Sincerely, For the Festival Committee Joe DiPasquale Chairman
