Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree The first stop during your cycling holidays needs to be the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. The tree has been an annual tradition since the 1930s and is a beaming beacon of NYC winter in the middle of Rockefeller Center. The Christmas Tree is filled with bright, shining lights and topped with a massive Swarovski crystal star that can be seen from miles away. Since the first lighting, the Tree has been a reflection of the year that passed. ...The tree can be up to 100 ft tall and is a marvelous sight to see. Many events around this area will make you want to stay and explore a while. You can go to the Top of the Rock to see Manhattan from a different point of view. You can enjoy the winter weather by spending some time on the ice rink with the Christmas Tree in your background. Mountain Biking NYC: Some Advice for Mountain Bike Activities Everyone does mountain bike activities for different reasons. But no matter what your ultimate goals are, you have to start with the basics. Even experienced mountain bikers sometimes need to be reminded of some key rules. For your safety and overall enjoyment, keep this advice in mind: -Start small. Before you hit technical trails, try something short with minimal elevation gain/loss, such as the Rock Garden.... -Don’t stay in the saddle too much. You’re much more effective on a mountain bike when your legs act as built-in shock absorbers. -Shift your weight. Keep your center of gravity over the rear wheel to maintain traction and avoid going over the bars, especially in more extreme mountain bike adventures. -Go easy on the brakes. Adjust your speed before the tricky parts of the trail, but remember that these brakes are very powerful, and you don’t want to pull them too aggressively. -Look where you want to go. If you’re going on a guided mountain bike, your instructor will pick the optimal lanes. But you should still try to look as far down the trail as possible. -Keep a good pedaling form. Move the ball of your foot just in front of the pedal axle to avoid straining your muscles. -Dress appropriately. Check the weather in advance and make sure your clothes can sustain mountain biking in NYC, different times of day, and ride durations. https://fancyapple.com/blog/mountain-biking-new-york/

Cycling Tips for Beginners One of the most common cycling mistakes beginners make is not planning for your journey. Will there be leaves or rocks on the ground, a hill to climb, or a slight bend in the road? How long will it take you to get there?...Continue reading

Kids and Bikes: What Bike to Choose Kids bikes can often change as they grow and develop their skills, so it may be useful to update the cycle as the kid grows out of the previous one. That can begin to add up, and buying one midsize bike looks very enticing. While that can work for older kids riding a slightly small bike, a larger bike may make riding it awkward and unsafe for small children. Here are some useful alternatives to getting a kid bike: Child Bike Seats...Continue reading
