It’s a 17 tow, 9600’, overloading the golf cart kind of day! *Edited to reflect the correct altitude achieved by Mr. Martin
Soaring season here at FLSC starts April 1 so it’s time to come out of hibernation! We had a phenomenal season in 2020 let’s hope our weekends in 2021 will be filled with more of these great moments!
If you are youth and looking to fly gliders. Please apply for one of these scholarships.
An estimated $49,750 in youth/junior scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants selected in 2021. Reminder... Scholarship applications for the Bultman... Award and SSA Youth Flight Training Scholarships (funded by Pat Costello, Dennis Purduski Trust, John Stoffel, George Moffat and the Bill Ivans Estate) are due March 31. The clock is ticking!!! Please help us get the word out to 13-24 year-olds to apply. There are a lot of scholarship funds to be awarded this year. We want to ensure we have good candidates applying for these scholarships. A nice wave flight by David Hart.
So you thought learning to fly behind a towplane was difficult? How about flying an RC glider behind an RC towplane and then doing a full aerobatic routine! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lug8eu1yeH0
How about a stunning soaring video for this cold cloudy Upstate NY day!
Nice final approach and landing by our friend David Hart.
We had some great conditions for a crisp Fall day. Jari, one of our tow pilots and CFI’s, got a little 8,800’ joy ride! It’s been a pretty phenomenal flying season.
Test launch of our club SGS 2-33 using our newly maintained winch. Special thanks to Joe Rizzo for the mechanical updates and test pilot Jim Martin for piloting the 2-33.
We’ve had a busy weekend. Got some flying in yesterday and today everyone pitched in to put in a new walkway and grilling pad. There were also some folks getting cozy in the Pegasus trailer
