It’s an easier day to be a parent. Character does matter. Being good does matter. Doing the right thing- not cheating to get ahead matters.

Hi! Attention! I am now posting an email I think is worth reading. It’s from a very good but much smarter friend of mine. I promise that if she says something is worth looking into it’s only after she’s carefully vetted it herself. Here is the email: I hope you all are doing okay. This isn't like me to reach out in this way but these have certainly been some intense times the last five months. I definitely related to Michelle Obama's description of living with a low gra...de depression and personally have been feeling frustrated and ineffectual on so many levels. Yet there are so many changes happening that are inspiring, mostly the result of young people taking action and speaking up for racial justice. Recently, both on my own and with some family and friends (thank you Mary M!), I've been doing lots of thinking, reading and talking about my own role in maintaining inequities of the status quo, which has been a necessary and important learning experience but I also want to take action and make a difference (since yelling at the TV or newspaper headlines hasn't been all that helpful!) . When I received an email from a friend about supporting Future Now Fund, a national project to flip state legislatures blue, it struck me as a way to participate in a very focused effort that had a good chance of success. I know there are so many groups doing important work out there, and we all have only so many dollars and hours to give but I do hope you'll check out Future Now Fund if you haven't heard of it, as a way for us to get the policies we need to combat the systemic problems we are facing, taking into account the incredibly important ways that state policies affect people's daily lives (taxation, minimum wage, education, healthcare, housing). Of course working to make change at the federal level is top of mind but hope you will also consider focusing your ire where it will make a huge difference -- donating to tight but winnable state legislative races. Please consider joining me in donating to my friend Amy's FNF Giving Circle here (aka the Pizza Brigade which has selected Pennsylvania as their targeted state. I just got off a zoom call with two amazing women running for State office, and after hearing firsthand about their uphill fight in a red state I feel doubly inspired to step out of my blue state bubble and help. Happy to share info on them and their campaigns). Please also share FNF with anyone you know who wants to take action and isn't sure how.

If we were open, we’d definitely be carrying this children’s book.

I know this is an almost impossible dream these days, but we are looking for a young female dog or puppy. Harry is 13 now and responsible. He is the biggest animal lover I’ve ever met. His dream has always been to have a Golden Retriever, but in fact he’d be happy with almost any dog as long as it’s young and likes children. Of course everyone in the world is out looking for dogs, but in case you know of one or have any leads......We prefer mutts but would be willing to get... a bred dog. We do not want AKC documentation and would like to keep the cost below $1000. I grew up with Goldens (I’ve owned 3). As an adult I owned the most beautiful Stumpy Tailed Blue Heeler mix for 16 wonderful years. Two years after she passed away, when Harry was 11, I adopted an older dog who turned out to be at least 9 years old and riddled with cancer. We loved the hell out of her for almost a year until her end. We are now looking for a young dog who will belong to Harry. Kee W. Koo
