Introducing Nettie Stevens! Stevens was a American geneticist that discovered the chromosomes now known as the X and Y chromosome! Unfortunately, she was not credited for her groundbreaking work at the time and was overshadowed by her male peers. She has published more than 40 papers in her short career span that have continued to inspire geneticists. She was admitted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1994, 82 years after her death. Through her work, Stevens has inspired many young female scientists!
